They claimed I could snag a flight cheaper than the website price but needed to pay immediately. When I asked about seat choices and more flight info, they told me payment came first before any details could be shared. That’s when I started to think this might be dodgy. I ended the call as soon as they asked to access my computer. They claimed they were a legit company that dealt with Microsoft issues. The guy mentioned their business name, but it’s slipped my mind now. I was probably browsing Facebook and clicking on some random ads at the time.

Was just browsing Facebook when i clicked on a post from Cher and next thing i knew my windows laptop was acting up real bad, had to force a shutdown.

My mate, who’s 90, had his PC totally blocked. He rang me to pop round and sort it out. When I arrived, the screen was frozen with a "call Microsoft" message. I managed to get past it by right-clicking that box and fiddling a bit with the info that showed up, which got the machine running again. Then, I tried phoning the number they left, but they cut me off four times straight away, probably because they saw the computer was back working. Proper cheeky!

So, my computer froze and I did exactly what the message told me to do, giving them access to my PC. Then I quickly figured it was a scam, ended the call and switched my computer off right away. I ran a full scan straight after and luckily nothing showed up. Just a heads up, if this happens, just power off your computer right away and don’t follow their instructions!

Hey, I saw a post on Facebook claiming Cher had died, and when I clicked it, it redirected me to a site telling me to ring Microsoft. Felt like they were tracking me or something. When I tried to close the page, my screen suddenly went all white, so I had to pull the plug on my computer. I've been running a scan since then but nothing serious so far. I even jotted down the number from that site. Honestly, it's ridiculous how Facebook lets stuff like this happen - they should be more responsible. Happened on 30/12/2016. What a total pain!

Had something like this happen to me recently. Was super cautious and told the guy from India I'd rather go see Geek Squad about my computer problem. Didn't share a single detail and went ahead with a system restore. After that, I rang the number again, pretended to be clueless, then completely tore into the bloke! He just ended the call on me! Honestly, felt bloody awesome!

I was reading an article about Angelina Jolie when suddenly my computer froze. I rang this number and spoke to a man who sounded like he was from abroad. I asked him how I could be sure he wasn't trying to scam me and if he really worked for Microsoft. His advice? Just google the number... obviously! Luckily, my computer was safe, so I ran a complete virus scan and found nothing wrong at all.

So, I ended up clicking on a photo supposedly of Jennifer Aniston with a headline saying she'd died, on Facebook. Suddenly, my PC showed a "Microsoft Warning" and froze. I had to switch it off and let it sit for a bit. When I powered it back up, the same thing popped back again. I gave the fake "Microsoft technician" number a ring, just to see, and yeah, it was a total scam. Got pretty annoyed and told whoever was on the other end that I'd report them to the cops. Switched off my computer again to break the loop. Weirdly, this isn't the first time it happened; a few months ago I got caught in this exact trap. Honestly, this needs to end. I suppose I'll stay off Facebook for a while now. I really like Jennifer Aniston and was worried hearing those false rumours, probably loads of people fell for it too. There must be a way to sort this out.

I called after my computer suddenly locked up, and the person on the line started controlling it remotely, saying I'd have to pay £150 to sort it out. It sounded dodgy straight away, so I quickly turned off my wifi and shut down the computer to cut them off.

I described the error message I saw and then quickly ended the call. I suspected it was a dodgy number, probably trying to nab my personal details and cause problems. I cut off the power, waited about five minutes, then rebooted. Just a heads up - never share your info with unknown callers!

I came across a website, www.61freefilesonline, that shows a really scary message just to get you to click on it. When you do, your computer gets locked up and you have no choice but to shut it down to fix it. Does anyone know if there’s somewhere official to report something like this?

A scary message popped up on my screen, pretending to be from Microsoft security, claiming my computer was infected. The page got stuck and told me not to reboot or switch off my PC, and to ring the number provided. After a bit of messing about, I managed to unfreeze the page and looked up the number, only to find out it was just a scam.
