From what I know, sheriffs mostly just transport folks between places and don't typically do the actual arrests. So yeah, this feels like a scam to me.

Last week, I got a call from someone saying it was super urgent. They said their name was Officer Grey Williams or something like that, and gave me a number to call back: 1-844-749-9022. They kept repeating the number, telling me not to ignore the message and to get back to them. They also mentioned if I or my lawyer didn’t respond, then all they could do is wish me luck as whatever was happening played out. It felt really sketchy to me.

This bloke was super pushy, proper annoying. He’s clearly just someone who takes advantage of folks who are easy targets.

Got a call from some bloke named Williams just last week, on the 22nd March 2017. He insisted I ring back straight away. The guy had a heavy accent and honestly sounded like he was struggling to get his words out properly. Felt totally dodgy and like some scammer trying it on. He said something like, "As soon as you hear this message, you or your lawyer need to call me back. This is really urgent. I'm Officer Greg Williams. My department's hotline is 1-844-749-9022 - I'll say that again, 1-844-749-9022. Don't ignore this message, make sure you call back. If neither you nor your lawyer get in touch, all I can do is wish you luck with whatever happens next. Goodbye and take care." Sounded like a right con to me.

Somebody rang me claiming to be from CRA, but it wasn’t the usual full name, just CRA. They told me I was being looked into for tax fraud and that the RCMP would be arresting me soon unless I got a lawyer. It all sounded dodgy to me. I’d say don’t bother with them and just get in touch with your nearest CRA office if you really wanna check.

this number rang my sister up claiming she owed $2245 or something like that. she told them she has no clue what they were talking about. then they started saying she was gonna get arrested?? some sheriff supposedly was coming in an hour. kept telling her she needed a lawyer and she had to get one fast! quite scary for her!

I got a call from someone saying they were Officer Greg Williams with Revenue Canada. It sounded urgent, like I had to ring back quickly so they could arrange a lawyer for me if I didn’t have one yet. The English was pretty bad though, didn’t sound quite right.
