It's quite baffling, as we've never held an account with them. The number that's been ringing our phone off the hook is 1 844 677 6659. Honestly, it's become a complete nuisance and is extremely disheartening to deal with.

I received a voicemail from a woman who was attempting to speak in a robotic tone, claiming to be with Enercare. My curiosity got the better of me, so I decided to return the call. When I did, a different woman answered and asked for my name. To my surprise, I could hear a child's voice in the background, which made me feel quite uneasy. When she pressed for more details, I questioned why she required such information, pointing out that surely it must be on file already, as I had no issues with Enercare that I was aware of. At that moment, it seemed like she altered her tone slightly, possibly trying to keep her ruse intact. Eventually, she mentioned that if I was uncomfortable sharing my details due to security concerns, I could always reach out to Enercare directly using the number on my bill. I responded affirmatively, saying I would indeed do that, because quite frankly, I sensed something was off. I then promptly hung up.

Received a call from this number in the evening while I was otherwise occupied and unable to pick up. Afterward, I reached out to my energy company, only to be told that they weren’t the ones trying to get through. Quite puzzling!

I just got a call claiming that I've got an unpaid hydro bill and that if Covid-19 has affected my finances, I should ring them up to arrange a payment plan. But here's the kicker: I’ve never opened a hydro account in Ontario. My utilities are all handled through my landlord. Unless he’s been neglecting those bills and somehow put them in my name instead of his-talk about a right kerfuffle-I’m inclined to think this is just a con.

After doing a bit of digging to find out who was on the other end, I decided to give them a ring back. I introduced myself as being from the XYZ fraud team and said, "Hello there! Just to let you know, I've got your voice logged now, and we're going to track you down and ensure you face the consequences!" I realise that might have been a bit immature, but honestly, it was quite satisfying! Afterwards, I made sure to block the number.

I got in touch with Enercare using the number listed on my invoice. Each of the representatives I spoke to assured me that 1-844-677-6659 does not appear in their records at all. They also mentioned that Enercare doesn't reach out to customers directly. It's a bit concerning that they were requesting personal details straight away and even left a voicemail.

I reached out to EnerCare to validate the situation. Apparently, it turns out that a collections agency is contacting me on EnerCare's behalf about an overdue payment on my account. While this seems legitimate, I opted to tackle the matter directly with EnerCare instead.

They asked me for my email address as part of their security protocol, which struck me as odd since I was under the impression they didn’t have it on record. I suggested they send an email to the address they possess, and I'd reply from there. I’m rather unsure if it’s a potential scam, so I’d advise you to ask them for a different way to contact you. If they’re truly Enercare, they’ll find a way to get back to you; if not, then it won’t matter at all.

I had a rather puzzling phone call from Enercare, insisting that I must get back to them by a specific date, claiming it was a pressing issue concerning my hydro account.
