I received a rather dubious email that appeared to be from Amazon, complete with their logo, claiming I had made a purchase totaling £1,827 - a transaction I certainly didn't authorise. Quite understandably, I was in a bit of a tizzy and rang Amazon's customer service. They informed me that the number I'd been given was not one of theirs. They also took the fraudulent email off my hands to investigate further. Initially, I had contacted that number in a state of anxiety regarding the order, but the chap on the other end, who had quite a thick accent, asked to take control of my computer. That raised all sorts of alarm bells, prompting me to reach out to Amazon again.
