My dad got one of those dodgy computer scams where a warning popped up saying his PC was infected and to ring them for help. He ended up handing over nearly £500 before realising it was all a con. Proper scam, really nasty stuff.

Somebody called claiming to be from Allied Computer Software. They told me my PC was infected with a virus and would lock up unless I called their number. I couldn’t access my computer at all - tried all sorts, but it was no use. In the end, I had to pay £320 to sort it out. What threw me off was when they warned not to trust anyone claiming to be from Microsoft as they said those people were scammers. Also, I noticed some strange charges on my bank statement listed as PBSincredible shenzben chn card. And the weirdest thing, my account number was something like yhck15! Makes me wonder if "15" means I'm hacked or something... what do you reckon?
