Phone number ☎️ 8009598281 👆 is reported as a phone number officially linked to the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) but widely exploited by scammers who spoof it to conduct fraudulent calls. Numerous users have experienced threatening messages about supposed unpaid taxes, legal actions, or arrest warrants, often accompanied by requests for personal information such as SIN numbers. Callers frequently hang up when challenged, speak with non-Canadian accents, or fail to communicate bilingually, which genuine CRA staff would do. The CRA itself does not initiate collection calls and generally communicates via mail. Victims are advised not to provide any personal data over the phone, to verify suspicions by independently contacting the CRA directly, and to report any suspicious activity to official fraud prevention authorities. Blocking the number and ignoring calls is recommended to avoid harassment.

I've been receiving a slew of early morning calls on my landline here in New Westminster, B.C., insisting that I provide personal details under threat of Revenue Canada engaging collection services to chase after a non-existent CERB grant. Honestly, I'm in my nineties and find this all quite distressing.

I have no desire to engage with your service, so kindly cease all calls. I've taken the step of blocking the number. Should you try to ring me again, I’ll be involving the authorities to handle it. It would be wise for you to refrain from contacting me further as I plan on reporting your persistent behaviour. Wishing you a pleasant day nonetheless.

The number 1-800-959-8281 belongs to the Canada Revenue Agency. However, a word of caution! It’s entirely possible for scammers to masquerade as the CRA by using this very number when they ring you. To stay on the safe side, ensure that you properly end the call and then dial that number yourself. This way, you can confirm that you're genuinely reaching the CRA. Just hanging up and picking up the receiver again might not cut it, as they can manipulate the dial tone, leading you to believe the line is clear. It might be wise to call a friend first, just to double-check and avoid falling prey to this ruse.

I dialled this number, which was identified as belonging to Shaw. I distinctly recall noticing it listed as originating from the United States, which struck me as odd since I thought Shaw operated solely in Canada. Nonetheless, I did manage to get through to Shaw’s service team in the eastern part of the country.

I’ve just had a rather dodgy call from a blocked number, where the caller insisted on obtaining my National Insurance Number to go over some letter I supposedly sent on the 3rd of May. I was quite reluctant to divulge any details over the phone, so she gave me a contact number to ring back: 18009598281. Surely this has the hallmarks of a potential scam, doesn’t it?

This seems like a dodgy setup. They were keen to chat about my RRSP contributions, but I didn’t put any in last year. Quite suspicious, if you ask me.

I’ve just had a call from this number, and a chap left a voice message reminding me about filing corporate taxes. I reckon it's a scam. Oddly enough, this number has been falsely presented as a contact for the CRA regarding individual tax queries. So dodgy!

I received a call from a number labelled as GOC-GDC, which appears to be a tax scam. It's best to avoid returning the call to the number they provided in the message. Furthermore, it's strange how it presents itself as an 800 number instead of the usual 1-800 format. Clearly, it's just a complete con!

I received a phone call from the number 1-807-623-3443, where a woman claimed to be from the CRA and wished to discuss some alleged debt. I asked her to send a written correspondence, and abruptly, she cut off the conversation. Shortly after, she rang our landline again, insisting she was legitimately with the CRA and provided an identification number, requesting extensive personal details. We declined to share any information with her, and she then directed us to ring back at 1-800-959-8281. This whole situation has been quite anxiety-inducing. I urge the CRA and the government to take action against such solicitations and to clarify to the public that the CRA does not make calls of this nature.

GOC-GDC?? is totally unrelated to the Canadian government, so I decided to just block the number. If you want to do the same, just check your recent calls, find the number 800 959 8281, press the menu option on your device, and select 'save'. A prompt will pop up asking if you'd like to add it to your contacts or block the call; just choose to block it. Easy peasy!

Initially, I received a rather alarming call from 289-308-6719, threatening legal action if I didn’t return their call. Naturally, I gave them a ring back straightaway. A woman picked up the phone and claimed to represent Canada Renvue, but there was something about her voice that set my alarm bells ringing. I inquired whether she could confirm her connection to Canada Renvue, and just like that, she disconnected the call. No matter how many times I tried to reach them again, they kept cutting me off. Eventually, a different person responded and offered to verify her identity by calling me from 18009598281, which she promptly did. During the conversation, she claimed I owed the government a staggering £5000 and was eager to know how I intended to settle this supposed debt. However, I couldn’t shake off the sense that this was a scam and sensed she realised it as well, leading her to hang up once more.

Just mention that you’ll be informing the Canadian Fraud Bureau about them. It's quite amusing to see how quickly they’ll end the call!

I received a rather unexpected phone call from this number earlier today. It was an automated voice chirping on about some supposed tax irregularities I'd committed. Naturally, I hung up straight away. Curious about the number, I decided to do a bit of sleuthing online afterwards. To my astonishment, I discovered that it might be linked to the CRA, which sent chills down my spine! I got a call that showed up as Canada Revenue on my phone, so I decided to ring them back. They told me they needed to verify some details about my account. In a moment of doubt, I ended up sharing my social insurance number, both my current and previous addresses, plus the birth date of my child and my own as well. They then checked their records and claimed there was nothing logged about my call, but warned me to be cautious due to the prevalence of scams. They sounded incredibly official, which has left me feeling anxious now about the personal information I disclosed. Please, let's put an end to this sort of thing!

I had an unsettling phone call just a short while back. It was from a male voice, clearly automated, delivering a rather unnerving message. The line cut off abruptly, leaving me with no chance to respond or select any options. The content of the message was particularly alarming, as it warned of impending legal action. What truly raised my eyebrows was that when I attempted to ring the number back, a female voice answered, claiming to be from the Canada Revenue Agency, advising me to call during their office hours. It all sounded quite authentic, which only added to my unease. It’s certainly not the kind of call one wishes to receive!

Earlier today, I got a rather alarming call claiming I was facing some legal trouble and that I should get in touch with a solicitor. When I pushed back, saying I had never heard from the CRA, the woman on the other end insisted that they’d paid me a visit at my house. I told her that the CRA doesn’t do home visits, and just like that, she ended the call. Quite the experience!

I've had several calls from this number, so I decided to look it up on Google. The results led me to a site that resembles the official Revenue Canada page. It claims this number belongs to them, which has left me feeling rather uneasy. What raises my eyebrows is that the website's address ends in .ca instead of the typical .gov or similar which you'd expect for an official government site. I can't shake off the feeling that something seems off here.

I’ve just received a call from this number, and it was some sort of pre-recorded message warning me it was my last chance… complete rubbish! It’s astounding how effortlessly someone can mimic a government number. What a total con!

Interestingly enough, this particular number is linked to the CRA and can indeed be found on their official website. However, it’s worth noting that scammers have been cleverly using this number as a way to trick people. Just a heads up, the CRA will never reach out to you via phone! Stay vigilant!

I had a rather odd experience with the number 1-800-959-8281 earlier today. The call was from an automated system featuring a female voice with a distinctly Canadian accent. Following the instructions provided, I pressed 0 to speak with a representative. I was then greeted by a male voice, again Canadian, who asked if I had received a call from the CRA. I was curious and asked for his name, but instead of answering, he merely repeated his question. I pressed him for his name, and to my surprise, he abruptly cut the call. Naturally, I decided to research the number and discovered it’s linked to a scam operation-so take heed! On another note, to the commenter who chose to be “anonymous,” your derogatory comments regarding certain nationalities are utterly unacceptable. It's crucial to be well-informed-these calls are not originating from those regions. I directly engaged with a North American individual. It might be wise to evolve from such prejudiced views!

🤣 "This is your last warning!" Oh, they’re really trying to make it sound all dramatic and menacing, threatening me with some sort of legal trouble. But hang on a minute-where’s the first heads-up? 😂😂 I keep my phone on me and it’s always charged, so don't tell me I missed anything! Clearly just a dodgy scam, but I had to double-check to confirm.

I received a pre-recorded call followed by a conversation with a chap who claimed I owed a whopping £7000. He warned me that the police were set to arrive any moment to take me in if I didn’t cough up the cash by the end of the day! What a nerve-racking experience!

I’ve just had a rather distressing experience with what appears to be a scam using a CRA number. When I picked up the phone, I was met with an automated voice that frankly made my skin crawl. They claimed I was about to be arrested if I didn’t return their call without delay! Honestly, it’s blatant scamming. Just to clarify, the CRA would never conduct themselves in such an intimidating manner over the phone. It's utterly preposterous!

I have my doubts about this number; it seems a bit dodgy. The caller claimed they were from the CRA but then proceeded to ask me all sorts of personal details like my workplace, social insurance number, and annual income, which rang alarm bells. I initially believed it was legitimate since I came across this contact on a Revenue Canada site. However, after some research on Google, I’ve realised it might be a complete con. Regrettably, I shared some info with them, thinking I was doing the right thing, but now I feel rather foolish. Be cautious!

I received a call from this number, which seemed rather questionable. The caller claimed to be from the CRA, stating their location as "United States" rather than "Canada." It was clearly someone in a bustling call centre who appeared to know my first name, but not my full one, and they couldn’t speak French at all. A couple of things struck me as odd: 1. Every CRA employee is required to be bilingual. 2. The CRA typically communicates via post, never by phone. 3. They wouldn’t use a 1-800 number to make outbound calls in the first place. And last but not least, they promptly hung up when I pointed out those facts. Quite the dodgy operation, if you ask me!

Received a call from this number that appears on the CRA's official site, which initially made me think it might be genuine. I opted not to pick up, but they left a voicemail. It was a mechanical voice speaking both French and English, urging me to sort out my tax affairs from 2017. I switched off after that and promptly deleted the message. I've already checked before about an obvious scam call, and it's clear that the CRA doesn’t reach out in this way. Seems like someone's up to no good, trying to fool people by spoofing the number to make it sound credible...

Got a phone call from this number today. Didn't pick up, but I thought I’d ring them back out of curiosity. Unsure if I actually reached the legit customer service or not, but it felt a bit dodgy. The automated voice was a sultry woman, and she didn’t utter a word in French after the English spiel, which struck me as odd. I even noticed her script was a touch ridiculous-like when she said, “...and much more!” Ha! It seems like these calls are coming from places like India and Pakistan, yet we’re welcoming them over to Canada for permanent residency without a second thought. What on earth is going on here, folks?!

I had a call from this number earlier today, but I chose to ignore it. They left a voicemail claiming to be from the HMRC, stating it was a polite reminder to sort out my tax returns for 2017. Hi there, I just had a rather alarming call from this number, where someone claiming to be Jancton Coner-at least that’s how they pronounced it-threatened me with immediate police action due to alleged unpaid taxes. They mentioned something about needing to know if I had a lawyer or else I’d be looking at a hefty fine of £3,427, and potentially a year behind bars if I didn’t cough up the cash. The caller struggled with English and had quite a strong Pakistani accent. When I cheekily told them to go ahead and send the police, they insisted I should wait as they were indeed dispatching them. The entire exchange felt very menacing, especially with the frantic tone they adopted... Quite a peculiar situation, if you ask me!

I just wanted to share a heads-up about a dodgy call I received recently. The number is supposedly linked to the Canadian Revenue Agency, but it’s definitely not them on the line. They rang me up claiming that I owe them 1400 dollars and insisted that I needed to settle it over the phone without any written confirmation. Feeling a bit apprehensive, I rang up the CRA on a different phone to check, and they assured me that my account was all clear. So, it turns out it was just a scammer trying their luck. Just a word of caution for everyone out there!

Greetings, I recently received a rather alarming phone call from this number. A chap identifying himself as Dwayne Woods claimed that the authorities were going to arrive to take me into custody due to unpaid taxes. He enquired whether I had legal representation, warning me that not having one could lead to a staggering fine of £15,000, and a possible year behind bars if I didn’t settle the matter immediately. The gentleman’s English was rather shaky, and he had a distinct Pakistani accent. I told him to go ahead and send the police, to which he insisted I wait as they would indeed be coming for me. His tone was threatening, and it was extremely high-pitched. I urge you to take action to put an end to this deceitful scam!
