I tried ringing this number which supposedly belonged to Shaw. From what I saw, it showed up as being from the States, which seemed odd 'cos I always thought Shaw was just in Canada. In the end, I managed to get through to Shaw's office over on the east coast though.

I got a call from an UNKNOWN number today. The person asked for my SIN, saying it was about some paperwork I sent back on May 3rd. Didn't feel right giving it over the phone, so she gave me a number to ring them back: 18009598281. Not sure, but this sounds kinda dodgy to me?

Got a call from "GOC-GDC" saying it was about taxes, but it's defo a scam. They left a number to ring back but don't bother, it's just a dodgy line. And it popped up as 800 instead of 1-800 on my phone - classic scam move.

I received a call from 1-807-623-3443 where a woman claimed to be from the CRA, asking to speak to someone about a debt issue. I asked her to send a letter instead, and she just hung up. Then she rang back on our landline, again saying she was with the CRA, giving an ID number and asking for personal information. We refused to share anything, and she said we could call back on 1-800-959-8281. This whole thing is really stressful. I’m urging the CRA and government to put a stop to these calls and warn people that the CRA doesn’t contact folks like this.

GOC-GDC?? That's not connected to the Canadian gov at all. I just blocked 'em straight away. If you wanna do the same, go to your recent calls, find 800 959 8281, press the menu button on your phone, then you'll get options like save to contacts or block number, just choose block. Easy fix.

I got a call from 289-308-6719, with a warning they’d take legal action if I didn’t ring back. I called straight away. A woman picked up and said she was with Canada Revenue, but something didn’t feel right. I asked if she could prove she was really from Canada Revenue, and instead of answering, she just hung up. I tried ringing back a few times, but they kept disconnecting me. Eventually someone answered and said if I wanted proof, they’d call me from 18009598281, which they did. She claimed I owed the government $5000 and asked how I planned to pay. I had a gut feeling it was a scam, and when she realised I was suspicious, she ended the call.

Got a ring from a number and my phone showed it as Canada Revenue, so I phoned back. The person claimed they needed to verify my details. I ended up giving them my SIN, both old and new addresses, and the birthdates of my kid and myself. After that, they said they’d look into why I was called but found nothing on their records and warned me about scams going around. It all sounded so official, but now I’m anxious that I handed over all my private info. Someone please put a stop to this!

Got a call not long ago from a bloke with a recorded message. The call cut out before I could press any key. The message sounded really harsh, talking about final warnings and legal action. Got a phone call from this number saying I was facing legal trouble and needing to hire a lawyer right away. I told the woman on the line that the CRA has never gotten in touch with me before, but she insisted they’d even been to my house. Today, I got a call from the number 1-800-959-8281. The call started with an automated female voice, sounded Canadian. I followed the prompt and pressed 0 to talk to someone. A live guy answered, also with a Canadian accent, asking if I had been contacted by the CRA. I asked him for his name but he just repeated the question and refused to say who he was. When I pressed for his name, he hung up straight away. Later, I looked the number up and clearly it’s a scam. Just a heads up to be cautious. Also, to the “anonymous” poster above with those ignorant comments about “India/Pakistan” - that’s totally unacceptable. These calls didn’t come from those places, I talked to a Canadian guy myself. Please check your facts and stop spreading that rubbish!

Haha, so this call says “final warning” like they’re about to send you to jail or something. 😂 Like, where was the first warning then? I keep my phone on and fully charged all the time, no missed calls or messages. Pretty clear this is just some dodgy scam but I had to Google it just to make sure!

I just got a call from this number, but the caller ID showed "United States," not Canada. The person on the line sounded like they were in a busy call centre, knew my first name but not my full one, and couldn't speak French properly, yet said they were from the CRA. For starters, everyone at the CRA speaks both official languages. Also, the CRA normally only contacts people through letters, not phone calls. Plus, they wouldn’t call from a 1-800 incoming number. On top of that, when I pointed these things out, the caller just hung up immediately. Definitely a scam.

Just had a call from a number that shows up on the CRA site, so sounded proper at first. Didn't pick up, but they left a voicemail - this weird robot voice going back and forth in French and English, telling me to sort out my 2017 tax returns. Got a call from this number earlier, didn’t pick up at first. Later gave it a ring back. Not certain if it was actually the CRA, but I’m convinced it was a scam. The automated lady’s voice was too robotic and only spoke English, never switched to French. Plus, the way she said stuff like "...and so much more!" sounded totally odd, like a dodgy script. Pretty sure this was some call centre in India or Pak*stan behind it, yet we keep handing out permanent residency here in Canada like it’s nothing. What’s going on with that, honestly?!

Hey, so I got a call from this number and some guy who said his name was Jancton Coner. He told me the police were gonna come and arrest me because supposedly I haven’t paid my taxes. He kept asking if I had a lawyer, and if not, I'd have to pay £3427 or else I'd be locked up for a year. The guy’s English was really dodgy and you could tell he had a strong Pakistan accent. I just told him to send the police if they wanted, and then he said to wait because they’d be coming for me. Honestly, it felt like a proper threat, and the way he spoke was really aggressive.

Hi, I just got a call from this number and a guy calling himself Dwayne Woods said the police would come to arrest me for not paying taxes. He asked if I had a lawyer, and if I didn’t, I’d have to pay $15,000 or face a year in jail. The caller struggled with English and sounded like he had a Pakistani accent. I told him to go ahead and send the police, but he just told me to wait because they’d be coming. The whole thing felt like a serious threat and his tone was really aggressive. Someone needs to do something about this scam!

I got a voicemail from this number claiming to be from the CRA’s criminal investigation unit. They said there’s a tax fraud case against me and that an arrest warrant has supposedly been issued.
