So this lady was pretty pushy. I ended the call, but she rang me straight back. I made it clear I wasn’t sharing any details with her. Then she told me to visit the website and that I should definitely go there. I just told her not to call me again, or there’d be trouble!

This number only makes calls, it’s for CRA outgoing calls. I was on the phone to CRA business enquiries and after our call dropped they rang me straight back from this number. Turns out it was the same agent I’d been talking to before. I’d say just pick up if it rings and if you’re not sure, give the business enquiries line a ring to check.

It’s quite clear this was a call centre trying to delay me with some so-called important messages regarding the CRA. They seemed completely oblivious to the fact that they had dialled an accounting firm. We engage with the CRA regularly and I've never encountered a scenario like this where CRA representatives reach out in such a manner. I strongly advise jotting down the agent’s name, their employee number, and the case reference before calling the official number for confirmation. Always remember, don't divulge any personal information over the phone unless you’ve made the call yourself!

I just received the same call on my mobile from a man with a thick Japanese or Chinese accent. I chose not to answer, but they left a voicemail about my Corporate and Personal GST filings, asking me to ring a different number. It seemed a bit sloppy since the caller forgot to hang up properly, leaving about three minutes of silence before my phone finally dropped the call. Also, there was no background chatter, so I doubt it came from some call centre or office. When I dialled the 1800 number mentioned, a very professional sounding automated female voice came on, claiming I’d reached a Revenue Canada Collection Agency. Just a heads up: CRA NEVER gets in touch by phone, they always contact folks through letters.

I've been receiving numerous calls intended for my husband on my mobile. The callers purport to be from the CRA, insisting he have his SIN number ready when he rings them back. Honestly, it's baffling! I'm not naive enough to fall for this, but I really wish they'd cease contacting us!

Received a call from this number displaying "CRA" on the caller ID. I missed the initial call, so I rang back. There was a recorded message saying "CRA Collection." When a woman picked up, she seemed rather formal and demanded my SIN. I politely declined, explaining that I couldn’t provide such sensitive information over a return call. I told her I would use the official CRA number listed on my most recent NOA. She seemed to accept this and abruptly ended the call. Out of curiosity, I decided to look the number up online, and lo and behold, it turned out to be a scam!

Last night, I got a call from a woman claiming to be French, wanting to talk to my husband about his income tax. She said her name was Marie Jose Normand and gave a number, 1-666-290-7824, but I’m pretty sure that was fake. She started asking for his social security number, which made me uneasy straight away. When I asked why they were ringing so late, like at 5:45pm, she claimed their office stayed open late. Something felt off about the whole thing, and it seemed like a new sort of scam I hadn’t seen before.

Got a call from this number yesterday evening. The person on the line was a French-speaking woman, and as soon as I caught her accent, I switched to French. She asked me for my husband's first name, then said she’d switch to English because his file was in English. She gave a name that didn’t sound real and a fake callback number. Watch out for these scammers, they seem to be getting trickier. She even mentioned if we rang back, someone else would probably answer since there’s a whole bunch of them operating. Hopefully, someone takes this seriously and cracks down on these new fraudsters.

This morning I got a text from this number saying Rogers had charged me too much and to claim a refund, I needed to visit some website. Thing is, I don’t even have a Rogers account. Looks like the same old scam using the same number.

I received a phone call from this number recently, right around half past six in the evening. I explained to the caller that I don’t take calls after hours, as my work schedule is from 8:30 am until 4:30 pm. He insisted that I could confirm his number and provided me with his extension. While the number might seem like a legit CRA contact, phone numbers can easily be spoofed to look like they’re coming from somewhere they’re not. I’ve gotten scam calls that looked local on my caller ID but were actually from overseas. If you ring back the 1-800 number they gave, you’ll likely get through to the real CRA and think everything’s alright. That can lower your guard and make you more likely to hand over personal info if the scammer rings back. They’ve reached out to me a few times but never left a voicemail. From what my accountant told me, the CRA won’t phone you to handle official matters. Any important communication always comes through the mail via Canada Post. Keep in mind, if it’s serious, you’ll get a letter, not just a phone call.

I’ve gotten dodgy calls before that showed up as local numbers, but were actually from overseas scammers. My accountant told me that the CRA doesn’t do business over the phone. They always handle official matters by sending letters through Canada Post.

This number called me out of the blue and the person on the line already knew my name and stuff. They wanted me to confirm my birthdate and postcode. Then they said I hadn’t submitted my 2014 tax paperwork and asked which bank I use and my home address. Claimed they were from Revenue Canada. Felt quite suspicious to me.
