It’s quite clear this was a call centre trying to delay me with some so-called important messages regarding the CRA. They seemed completely oblivious to the fact that they had dialled an accounting firm. We engage with the CRA regularly and I've never encountered a scenario like this where CRA representatives reach out in such a manner. Last evening, a lady with a French accent called, claiming she needed to discuss tax matters with my husband. She introduced herself as Marie Jose Normand and provided the phone number 1-666-290-7824, which I soon discovered is a bogus number. She was rather insistent about obtaining his national insurance number. When I queried her about the timing of the call, as it was just past half five, she assured me their office operates late. That instantly raised my suspicions. It’s a rather unusual approach compared to the usual con artists we've encountered in the past.

I got a phone call from this number last night. A young lady with a French accent was on the line. As soon as I recognised the accent, I switched to French. She then inquired about my husband's first name before stating that she'd communicate in English since his file was apparently in that language. I urge everyone to stay vigilant against these sorts of con artists, and I truly hope authorities will investigate this new breed of scammers.
