If you ever get a call from someone saying they're from your bank’s fraud team, especially PNC or any other bank, the best thing to do is hang up and ring the bank yourself. I found out the hard way after talking to them and then calling PNC straight away. It was obvious those callers were just trying to steal personal info and get into my accounts. They told me that scammers can actually change the number that shows up on caller ID, so it looks like they’re legit. Just be careful, and don’t let these fraudsters trick you.

Just a heads up, that 1 800 number is definitely a scam. It looks a lot like the bank’s official contact but theirs isn’t actually an 800 number. I can’t remember if the legit bank line starts with 866 or 888, but I do know for sure that the 800 one is fake and these scammers try to steal your social or bank info. Watch out!

I got a call from a woman who said they’d reviewed my credit card record and claimed I might be eligible for lower interest rates based on my payment habits. When I asked which bank had issued my card, she just replied that it was either Visa or MasterCard, not the actual bank name I was after. It felt like she was fishing for details, so I wasn’t about to share anything, especially since her strong accent made me suspicious. I told her I thought it was a scam and ended the call. Later, I looked up the number that showed on my caller ID - it was 1-800-762-2265.

Watch out, this is a total scam! PNC’s number ends with 762-2265, but their area code is definitely 888, never 800. So don’t trust this caller at all.

I got a call from someone claiming to be from PNC bank. They asked me for my social security number and account details. At first, I thought I ended up giving my social security number, but luckily I didn’t share any account info.

This caller actually had my name and bits of my banking details, which was really unsettling. They told me there was a suspicious charge on my account and asked me to confirm some personal info. Later I found out someone had used that same info to hack into my online banking, change my password, register for Zelle, and move all my funds out. Very worrying experience.
