I missed a call earlier; the caller ID flashed Scotiabank, yet the number doesn't match any of their official contacts. Quite odd, isn't it?

I received a call from the number 1-800-747-3202, and it seems they already know my details. Any advice on how to handle this situation?

It’s rather unsettling, but it appears they were aware of my wife’s offer and posed as a representative from ScotiaBank. They were fishing for sensitive banking details, including credit card numbers, which is something no legitimate bank would ever do via telephone.

I opted not to pick up when this number rang, and interestingly, they didn’t bother to leave any voicemail either.

On Tuesday, January 5th, 2021, at around half past six in the evening, I received a phone call from Scotiabank on the number 1 800 747 3202. They mentioned that the conversation might be recorded for training purposes. I replied that it was perfectly fine and informed them that I too would be recording our chat. To my surprise, they responded by saying they couldn’t proceed if I was recording the call, and then abruptly disconnected. This raises serious red flags; it feels very much like a scam, as they seem keen to avoid any form of recording. If you tell them you’re recording, expect them to end the call immediately.

I just got a call from this number, and the caller was supposedly from Scotiabank. I chose not to pick up, but they left a voice message. After looking up this number, it's evident from the reviews that it's likely a scam, especially since I don't hold an account with them at all.

For the past fortnight, I've been receiving daily calls from a number listed as Scotia Bank. Each time I pick up, the caller claims to be representing Scotia Bank, and they inquire whether I’m interested in establishing a line of credit. It's becoming rather tiresome!

I've verified that this is indeed a scam. Scotiabank has no connection to this number whatsoever. To be absolutely sure, I reached out to the genuine Scotiabank helpline, which can be found on the back of my card, and they confirmed that it's not linked to them. I received a phone call on a Saturday morning that I chose to ignore. I tend to avoid picking up calls from unknown numbers; this tactic has greatly reduced the number of pesky calls I receive. I've noticed that on various other sites, folks are claiming this number is linked to the Bank of Nova Scotia. One thing I’d like to highlight: forget about those do-not-call registries! They only seem to attract more unwanted calls. My advice? Just let the phone ring if you don’t recognise the number. With a bit of time, you’ll find those annoying calls become a rare occurrence.

I received a phone call from this number yesterday, dated 4th March 2016. To my surprise, they rang me again today, three times in the span of just half an hour! Could it be that I've struck gold with the Mega Lotto, or perhaps a wealthy relative I didn't know about has bequeathed me a fortune? I'm absolutely on tenterhooks, eagerly awaiting their next call!

This number, 8007473202, is quite the same. It seems that the '1' at the start indicates that they're ringing in from overseas to the US. By the way, I can verify that it is indeed linked to Scotiabank.
