On the evening of Tuesday, 5th January 2021 around 6:30 pm, I got a ring from what said Scotiabank, number 1 800 747 3202. They mentioned the call might be recorded for training, which I agreed to. Then I said I’d be recording it too, and suddenly they said if I was recording, they couldn’t carry on and just hung up. Definitely a scam alert - if you tell them you’re recording, they’ll cut you off straight away.

For the past couple of weeks, I’ve been getting calls almost daily from a number that shows up as Scotia Bank. When I pick up, the person on the other end claims to be from Scotia Bank and asks if I'm interested in a line of credit.

On a Saturday morning, my phone rang from a number I didn’t recognise, so I didn’t bother picking up. I usually ignore calls from unknown numbers - keeps the nuisance calls to a minimum. I’ve seen a few other folks online saying it’s linked to the Bank of Nova Scotia. Just a quick tip: don’t bother with no call registers - they only seem to make the junk calls worse. The best thing is to just let unknown numbers ring out; after a while, the calls slow down a lot.
