This call was definitely an automated security alert from Royal Bank and not a scam.

At first, I thought it sounded dodgy because there was no caller ID and it felt a bit unprofessional. So, I did my own checking by ringing the number on the back of my RBC card. I spoke to a representative who told me my credit card had been hacked and they were sending out a replacement. They also confirmed the automated call I got was genuine, not a fraud.

To be extra sure, I called back the number left in the voicemail and got through to another RBC security staff member. They explained that a scam caller wouldn’t mention the bank by name or use specific info. But the call I received included the last four digits of my card, the names on the account and made clear it was from Royal Bank of Canada. So, I’m convinced it’s legit.

Got a voicemail from someone saying they were RBC and mentioned the last four numbers of my credit card - honestly, it felt really dodgy.

Like many others, I got the call too. But then I rang the number on the back of my RBC card (1-800-769-2512) because, after reading some comments here, I thought it might be a scam. Turns out, RBC told me the call was genuine. I did ask about how they keep things secure - honestly, it’s hard to trust anyone these days. Anyway, if you’re unsure about this number, I really recommend phoning the number on your RBC card. Sometimes you might think it’s a scam, but it could actually be RBC trying to alert you about a scam instead.

My partner got a call from this number and they left a message claiming there was an issue with my card. When I rang them back, it was just an automated system. It asked me to pick my postcode out of four options, but none matched mine. Then it said it’d put me through to a security agent, but I never got connected. I was curious to see what their scam was all about. Just to be clear, THIS IS NOT RBC. Always use the number on your actual card and make sure to report and block this one.

I got a text saying there was some unusual action on my account and they wanted me to ring them right away. What was creepy is they knew the last four digits of my card. Proper worrying!

This is definitely a con. They want you to confirm your postcode, but whatever you do, don’t share it. Make sure you check your bank balance carefully and ring the RBC contact number located on the back of your card instead.

Got a message on my voicemail from this number... wonder who it was trying to reach?

Definitely don’t pick up if this number rings you! They’re pretending to be RBC but it’s just a scam trying to steal your details.
