So now they've switched it up and are pretending to be from Amazon. The voicemail I got said there was a problem with my Amazon order and I needed to ring them to sort it out with an "Amazon expert". Naturally, I checked online to see if I had any pending orders and everything had been delivered already. I wouldn’t dream of ringing the number they gave me (1-844-940-3746). They even ended the message with a "thanks for choosing Amazon" which just made it sound more dodgy. I always avoid calling numbers they leave and instead contact the company directly through their official channels.

Got a call from an automated voice claiming my iCloud was hacked, then it tried putting me through to an ‘agent’. The phone kept ringing for way longer than usual before someone finally picked up. They asked if I’d recently been to Russia or South Korea, saying my iCloud password was leaked and my phone was supposedly involved in some dodgy stuff in those countries. The caller even knew my name, which nearly convinced me it was legit. Then they wanted to know how many Apple gadgets I had and asked me to log into each for a “security check”. I wasn’t at home then, so I told them to ring back later. It was only after chatting to my workmates that I clocked it was a scam! Always double check the number calling, even if it shows “Apple” or something official. I actually found this site by googling the number. Don’t let these scammers get to you.

Got a call from someone called Alex claiming to be from Apple. The Caller ID even showed Apple and he told me my Apple ID had been accessed from two different locations. I got a call from someone claiming to be from Apple, saying my computer was infected with some kind of “level 5 hacking” or whatever, and they insisted I needed to buy Target gift cards to fix it. The guy kept me on the line, telling me the repairs were going on right then. He even promised I’d get the money back for the cards. Right after, I received a receipt that looked super legit. Got a call from someone calling themselves Hugo S this morning. I pressed 1 and got passed on to this really rude bloke who claimed someone was trying to hack into my Apple account - apparently from Ohio. I only use my Apple ID for music on my iPad, so I was suspicious straight away. He asked for the iPad's serial number and I barely got to say it before I told him I didn’t believe it was legit. Then the idiot snapped back, “We’re from Apple, just trying to help. If you don’t want, that’s your choice.” What a total jerk. I hung up on him immediately.

This was definitely a scam. The guy called saying my iCloud had been hacked and to sort it out, I needed to buy a £500 gift card. He told me to grab one while he stayed on the line. That’s when I got doubtful. When I didn’t buy the card, he sent me a link and said he could fix my account straight from my laptop. Foolishly, I clicked the link and he gained control of my computer. I watched as he looked through photos on my files. When I asked what he was doing, he started deleting stuff on my desktop! I immediately hung up and shut my laptop down.

What puzzles me is how these scammers or whoever’s behind it get hold of these numbers, especially since they’re not listed on the official company site. It’s even worse when these same numbers end up being misused by people who then harass folks dealing with issues in relation to that company’s products or services. I honestly can’t picture any family going through the kind of stress my parents and I have faced because of this. I hope no one else ever has to deal with something similar. And for those responsible, I truly hope they find some peace through faith and realise they have talents they should be using to help people rather than cause harm.

I didn’t answer when my phone rang, but when I checked the caller ID, it displayed a number alongside the word APPLE in big letters. Quite weird!

Got a call from 18006927753, which is a toll-free number. They claimed to be from Apple and warned that my computer would be shut down by 4:15 pm. Pretty sure it's a scam.

In just about 20 minutes, I got three calls, with the first and last coming from this very number. The second call might have been from the same caller but disguised as a different number. Nowadays, I don’t pick up if I don’t recognise the number - if it’s really important, they’ll leave a voicemail anyway. None of these three calls had any message left, so I’m pretty sure it’s a scam. The number itself looks real, but the whole spoofing thing has definitely gotten out of hand.

I’m an Apple employee and can confirm this is true - we don’t ring up customers out of the blue. If we do call, it’s always because the customer has requested a direct call, and it’s always from our authentic Apple numbers. These dodgy scammers are port forwarding our numbers, or using apps that let them fake caller IDs. Like, you can text a mate but make it seem like it’s from another number entirely. They’re pulling the same trick, so when people search the number on Google, it shows up as Apple, which makes the call seem legit. But honestly, it’s definitely not us behind those calls.

I phoned Apple to check and they told me they don’t ring you from an 800 number, even though the caller ID looked like a genuine Apple number. Definitely don’t pick up, it’s a scam.

Got a call on my mobile saying my Apple ID was compromised. I told the guy I'd check the number to see if it was genuine, and he assured me it was. The moment I mentioned I'd found it was a scam, he just cut off straight away.

They've rung me twice already today. I told them I work for the local police and that the call was being recorded, then they just hung up. There are no Apple gadgets in my place at all. This has been happening for ages now, and I'm absolutely fed up with it!

This number has rung me for three days running now. When I looked it up on Google, it showed up as Chevron. The caller claimed there was suspicious activity on my Apple account, mentioning some financial stuff and telling me not to use any Apple devices. Then they asked me to press one to be connected. Problem is, I don’t own any Apple gadgets, so I knew it was dodgy. Still, I pressed one. The person answered with "Thanks for calling Apple." I told them I didn’t call them, they did, and then they just hung up. The first time I picked up, I told the woman I don’t have Apple devices and asked why they were calling. She apologised and said they’d take me off their list, but obviously that was a lie. This is definitely a scam, very similar to those IRS phone scams. Don’t fall for it - Apple would never ring you like that.

Got a call from this number and it said Chevron on my caller ID. When I picked up, I didn’t say a word. The message was some automated voice warning me that my iCloud was hacked. I found it hilarious since I use Android all the way.
