I received a rather peculiar call the other day. They posed what they called a "survey question," instructing me to press one for yes and two for no. They wanted to know if my residence solely relied on a mobile phone or if there was also a landline involved. It all felt rather dodgy, to be honest!

I had a rather peculiar experience today with a number that rang me not once, but twice back-to-back. The initial call caught me off guard, and before I could even get my bearings, it abruptly cut off. On the second go, I managed to answer, only to be met with silence before they disconnected. Quite unsettling and rather frustrating, I must say! It looks like I might end up footing the bill for an international call, which is just grand.

It's baffling, really! In this age of advanced technology, one would think the ability to manage something as straightforward as phone numbers would be a walk in the park. Why aren't there systems in place to monitor these dubious calls? It’s utterly perplexing that we’re still facing such challenges and that these less-than-reputable numbers seem to slip through the cracks. Who's responsible for ensuring that these issues are being addressed? It certainly leaves you questioning the efficiency of our current systems!

For those who might be a touch oblivious, it's worth noting that the national do not call list is specifically for sales and marketing calls, and doesn’t cover research inquiries such as surveys. Just thought I'd clear that up for anyone who might be a bit misinformed.

I had a rather peculiar experience with a call I received at precisely 6:15 on the 10th of September, 2014. What struck me as odd was that the caller tried to reach me not once, but twice within a mere span of two minutes! To top it off, they left behind a voicemail that was utterly blank, lasting only three seconds. Quite interestingly, this call was directed to a Canadian mobile number, suggesting it’s not just confined to the U.S. territory...

This morning, whilst I was getting ready for work around half seven, I received a call from some right pair of muppets who didn’t bother to leave a message-quite odd, wouldn’t you say? So, curious as I am, I decided to ring them back from the office. To my astonishment, the recorded greeting claimed they weren’t trying to sell anything and proceeded to enquire if I wished to register for their do not call list by entering my full number. And get this, they suggested I could leave a voice message. Really? If I was inclined to leave a message, I’d expect them to have the courtesy to leave one first! Something just feels a bit dodgy about this. Why on earth would I want to provide my number? Enough already, you absolute numpties!

Make sure to scrutinise the permissions of any apps you install, folks! They often allow the developers to see your phone number, as well as your call history and the timing of your calls. By granting these permissions, you’re essentially consenting to let your number be used in this manner. Be vigilant!
