7 yearsBeware of calls pretending to be from DELL. I got a call with a recorded message saying my drivers needed updating, and I was pretty sure it was dodgy straight away. Still, I played along to see what would happen. Then a bloke with an Indian accent came on and tried to convince me that Dell servers can detect outdated drivers on your PC - which they can't, by the way. They already had my name and PC model, but when they asked for my service tag, I refused. They wanted me to ring them back so they could ‘help’ with updating the drivers. I asked him which drivers needed updating and said I’d do it myself. That annoyed him a bit. Then he told me to call a different number to get the update done, and I wondered why it couldn’t just be done on that call. He ended up hanging up on me.
