Got a call from this number a while back and left a voicemail pretending to be from Bell Aliant, even mentioning a colleague’s name. Got a ring from this number and as soon as I picked up, they put me straight on hold. Waited ages then a message popped up saying all agents were busy and I should call back, then the line just went dead. I rang back and spoke to a bloke claiming to be from Bell Aliant. He asked for my phone number, but I told him it should be on his screen already. He said it wasn’t. Then he started asking for my name, address, phone, email, and even my date of birth. I wasn’t having any of it and ended the call.

I got a call too, so I rang the actual Bell Aliant to check. They told me it was a scam where people pretend to be them or a company called GST. If you pick up, just say the number is being traced - which they really are - and let them know you’re reporting the call before hanging up. I said “being traced” because if you look at your real Bell Aliant bill, it lists all incoming and outgoing calls, so they’ll be easy to spot. Just a heads up for everyone to watch out - it’s a scam and has been reported to the cops. Oh, and if you compare the number they’re calling from with Bell Aliant’s official number, you’ll see it’s different.

Trouble is, my bill was all paid up. They kept pushing and even connected me to some “manager” who sounded legit, asking me to switch the payment to a different account. After I got off, I rang Bell customer support and they confirmed my bill was all clear and said they’ve had loads of reports about this number.
