I said no, and he claimed he’d stopped the transaction and wanted to sign me up for LifeLock free of charge. I asked why I hadn’t gotten an email alert like I usually do for card purchases, and he said the transaction was caught and cancelled before it could trigger an email. Then he tried to get my card details. That’s when I realised something was off. I told him I wouldn’t share any info and that I’d ring Scotiabank myself to check. After I ended the call, he rang back while I was speaking to the bank, who confirmed my account was fine and the caller’s number was fake.
