Absolutely, I've had a similar experience. Received a notification from PayPal indicating that £899.99 had been taken from my account. There was a number included to ring up in case of any fraudulent activity. I took a look at my PayPal account, and lo and behold, the transaction was already flagged and cancelled.

I just got another email identical to the one I reported earlier. ======================================================================== Veronica Corona has sent you a request for payment. MESSAGE FROM Veronica Corona: "IMPORTANT: A sum of £1299.76 GBP has been withdrawn from your account for the purchase of an iPhone 14 Pro MAX. If this transaction appears suspicious, please contact us straight away at +44-800-368-3973 to halt the transaction and secure an immediate refund."

I received an email at 10:06 on 26th November 2022 from the number +44 800 368 3973, claiming to be from PayPal. It stated that £1299.76 had been deducted from my account for the purchase of an iPhone, which I certainly did not authorise. It included a message saying that a money request had been sent by someone named Joseph Leyva. The email urged me to call that number right away if I suspected fraud, in order to halt the transaction and secure an immediate refund. I didn’t end up calling them. Upon reviewing my PayPal account, I saw that this amount appeared as a pending transaction, yet it wasn’t reflected in the account details provided by the PayPal assistant. Thankfully, I could cancel it directly through my account settings. I have since notified PayPal about the dubious email.

This matches what I’ve seen from another user previously. Got an email scam purporting to be from PayPal, demanding £1299.76 for an iPhone. They're instructing people to call this number if they think it’s dodgy in hopes of securing a refund. Be careful out there!

Just received a rather alarming email claiming that £1299.76 has been taken from my PayPal for an iPhone 14 Pro Max by a certain Don Thoummavong. It states that if this isn't legit, I should urgently get in touch at +44-800-368-3973 to stop the transaction and reclaim my funds straight away. The whole situation seems incredibly suspicious, and I’d advise anyone getting a similar message to tread carefully! Could it possibly be a scam? Best to check thoroughly before doing anything hasty.
