Heads up about a scam going around pretending to be Scotia Bank! If you get a call from them, best not to pick up. Scotia Bank won’t ring you directly like that anyway - they usually handle stuff face-to-face at the branch. Stay safe and don’t get caught out!

Someone rang me up and somehow they already had both my first and last name. They asked to speak to me, which is odd - why bother asking if you're calling my number in the first place? I ended up reporting it as a scam after clicking the link they sent. They never explained why they needed to talk to me, just said it was to “confirm my identity.” Honestly, best to just ignore calls like this!

I had this number blocked but somehow got a voicemail with nothing on it. Definitely a scam call. Bit annoyed that this app doesn’t seem to stop them leaving voice messages.

They've rung me a couple of times. Since my phone was hooked up to Bluetooth, I answered it halfway through the first ring. Then, suddenly, they just hung up on their side.

This call might actually be genuine, they tried offering me a "catch up loan." I’m not interested though. If they’re offering free cash, sure, I’d take it. But if they want my personal details, no way will I share them. If they didn’t have my number, how did they get through to me in the first place? If it’s really Scotia Bank, they already have all my info - bank account, social security, DOB, mother’s maiden name - so why bother asking again? They can access all that themselves. Would I confirm any of it? Not a chance. Maybe I’m being overly cautious, but I’m not feeling sorry about it.

This was a scam pretending to be from Scotia bank. I rang the number showing on my caller ID and it sounded genuine enough... but Scotia normally contacts you through proper mail or via your online banking messages. So it was a bit fishy to say the least.

When you finally call back to get off their list, they try to trick you into giving your full name, phone number, and even your postcode - all supposedly just to stop the calls. Don’t fall for it, don’t share anything! Just block them and move on.

These people are scammers from India, seriously don’t share any of your details with them. You should report them to the police straight away.

This number is legit, it's a telemarketer working for Scotia Bank about their credit cards.

Yeah, the number is linked to a George, I think his surname starts with "Ip" or "Ig". The listed address is somewhere along Washington Road or Avenue in Seattle.

Today was the first time this number called me, and honestly, I could barely make out the woman speaking. She claimed to be from Scotia Bank, but when I said I didn’t have an account with them and asked why she was ringing, she quickly changed her tune. Apparently, there was some problem with her microphone and she couldn't hear me properly. Then, she just hung up. Feeling suspicious, I rang back and I think it was the same woman. I asked once more why Scotia Bank was contacting me if I’m not a client. She gave me a load of rubbish explanations and oddly asked for my number again to check why I got the call in the first place. I told her she already had my number and firmly said to stop calling me ever again. I only get offers from them through email anyway. I get that banks sometimes ring for genuine reasons, and I don’t usually get annoyed, but these dodgy calls have been going around far too often. It’s about time it stopped.
