I looked into this a bit more. There's definitely a legitimate firm called "East Coast Law," owned by Wayne Jentis, who's a registered lawyer with the Florida Bar, based in Melbourne, Florida. However, the paperwork I received from a James Barker showed a company located in Miami with a couple of directors named John Kirsch and Timothy G. Lane. When I questioned Barker about his role, he said he was a trainee at Jentis's firm, but when I tried to find out who Kirsch and Lane were, he just cut the call. To me, that pretty much proves that this so-called Barker is running some sort of con, copying the real law firm's identity.

Looks like this number is linked to a scam that’s pretending to be East Coast Law, a legit outfit run by Wayne Jentis who’s registered with the Bars of Florida, New Jersey, and New York. The fraudsters are copying the company’s name but are actually operating out of Miami, not Melbourne, Florida. They mention a Director called Timothy G. Lane and an Executive Director named Mr John Kirsch in their paperwork. When I called and asked, the supposed trainee lawyer claimed to work for Mr Jentis, but when I brought up Mr Kirsch, the call was just cut off. Totally sketchy behaviour, classic sign of someone trying to cover their tracks.

Got a call from this number about some old shares I supposedly had in the States ages ago. The person said they were from a legal firm on the east coast and offered me a sum. Seemed fishy, like a scam, and they didn’t ask for any money upfront.

Yesterday (June 16th) I got a phone call from a bloke who said his name was James Barker from a firm called East Coast Law in Florida. From his accent, I guessed he was actually from England. He tried to convince me to sell some US stocks he claimed I held. He sounded convincing enough, except for the wildly exaggerated share values he mentioned. I'm definitely being very wary about this and have no plans to pay any money upfront no matter what he says. It feels more like “seller beware” than “buyer beware” as the old Latin saying goes. I’m currently checking to see if there’s any truth to his link with East Coast Law since I've received quite a few calls over the years from what seem to be copycat companies.
