A woman with a British accent answered at first, telling them to press one if they wanted to talk about £79 that had supposedly been taken for Amazon Prime. When my parent hit button one the first time, they got connected to a man who sounded like he was abroad. My parent told him they were still in the middle of a free Amazon Prime trial. After that, the man kept firing off questions and telling them stuff like “Go get your laptop”. Feeling uneasy, my parent just hung up. Fortunately, no money has left the bank account, and the trial wasn’t meant to finish until mid-February anyway. I’ve made sure the subscription won’t renew. So far, there’s nothing unusual showing on the landline bill from pressing the button, but I’m keeping an eye out just in case. Honestly, this looks like a phishing scam to me.
