I got a call from someone claiming I had made a reservation at their restaurant, which I never did, and they wanted me to reply back.

So, today’s my birthday and out of the blue I get this bizarre text. The number’s from the same area code as me, so it’s not some faraway spam or anything. No clue who sent it or why I’m getting it. Honestly felt kinda unsettling. The message said:

“You’re on the waitlist for a table for two at Chinese Sauerkraut Fish. Reply ‘9’ to cancel, or ‘STOP’ to opt out of messages.”
