In just a couple of days, I’ve had them ring me 23 times. I’ve made it clear I won’t give them a penny since the debt they're chasing is over seven years old - way past the limit (I was only 18 back then, no job, couldn’t pay anyway). They claimed it’d harm my credit score, but I just snapped up a shiny new 2019 car, so that's definitely not the case. Still, they persist in ringing me. Might just have to change my phone number soon, haha. I’ve blocked their numbers, but they keep trying with different ones. When I answer, they say they’ll put me through to a manager, but I immediately say “No thanks” and hang up, then block again. Seems like they only have about three numbers because after I blocked the others, none have got through since.

Some bloke was asking for my lad, and then a woman got on the phone, saying he owed them cash. Luckily, my son is clever and saw through their scam right away. Being his mum, I rang the number back and gave them a piece of my mind, calling them out as scammers, but the guy on the other end denied it. He claimed his firm had been around "since, I think, 1938" and was based in Toronto. If they dare ring here again, I'll be reporting them to the police straight away.

So yeah, they’re after your bank details. A bloke called asking for someone, then handed the call over to a woman who seemed proper nice trying to reach that person. Turns out, she was after my son but he wasn’t available. She wanted his bank account info, saying it was needed to sort out some money he supposedly owed them. I found out that one of the debt collectors works for Fido. If you owe them any money, they’ll get in touch and tell you they’ve purchased the debt - likely for very little compared to what’s owed. They use auto-diallers and sometimes call you directly.

Surely CBV has to be short for something. They keep asking for me and just repeating CBV like it’s my name or something. I’ve never said I’m the person they want, but then they go “Alright, I’ll put you through.” Bit dodgy if you ask me.

They wanted to confirm if it was me and then asked me to hang on so they could put me through to someone wanting a chat. I said I couldn’t talk then because I was working and asked who exactly I was supposed to speak to, along with a number. They refused to give me any details, so I asked them to stop ringing me. Instead, they said they’d ring back when I wasn’t at work and then hung up. Since then, they’ve called me three more times.
