10 yearsI received a call from a chap claiming to be associated with Cash Net USA, using the phone number (773) 888-6476. He introduced himself as Alex Washington, yet spoke with a strong accent that struck me as either Middle Eastern or Indian. He mentioned that he could approve a loan for me but needed to verify my bank account by transferring a small sum into it. Following that, he insisted I go to a Walgreens to buy an iTunes gift card, and then provide him with the code from the back. He assured me that this would enable the funds to be returned to me, and that he’d have the loan amount in my account within half an hour, but only after I shared my banking login details. When I suggested he call my bank for confirmation, he claimed that was not the procedure they followed. I concluded that I didn’t need a loan that urgently and hung up.
