Right after I figured out what the call was about, I told the bloke to give me his number so I could call him back and sort out payment for a buffet he never even asked for (I do outside catering). He didn’t find it amusing at all and just hung up! I’d say that’s a win for me...

Got two calls from this number on 8th Feb 2016, first one was at 8:32am and the other just before midday at 12:21. Didn’t pick up either time. When I do pick up and they say it’s about a computer, I always ask which one since we’ve got like four computers here. Surely if there’s an issue they’d know exactly which device it’s about? They usually just drop the call. Can’t say I’m surprised!

I got a call from someone claiming my computer had a virus. I just ended the call straight away. Honestly, it felt like a really annoying nuisance call.

A guy with a thick accent said he was “John” and tried to chat about my Windows OS. I wasn’t falling for it, told him straight up I knew he was trying to scam me, then told him to take a hike and ended the call.

Got one of those usual calls from a bloke claiming to be John from Microsoft. He sounded like he was from Asia or somewhere close. I just played along and kept chatting until I got bored, then he finally hung up. Typical scam stuff really.

Seit ein paar Tagen bekomme ich von dieser Nummer dauernd Anrufe. Angeblich seien sie von Microsoft und mein Computer hätte ein grosses Problem, bei dem sie dringend helfen müssten. Jedes Mal melden sich unterschiedliche Personen mit simplen Namen wie „David“, „Linda“ oder „Maria“. Wenn ich frage, wo sie genau anrufen, wechseln sie das Thema schnell und reden weiter über mein vermeintliches Problem. Ich hab immer wieder versucht, herauszufinden, wo sie sind, aber die legen einfach irgendwann auf. Wer gibt denn bitte solchen Leuten Zugriff auf den Rechner? So blöd darf man wirklich nicht sein! Mein Tipp: Lasst sie doch ganz andere Probleme lösen, zum Beispiel das mit der klemmeneden Tür...!

Received calls from them twice today, with two different guys on the line. Both said they were from Microsoft and somehow claimed my computer was being shared online or something like that. They tried to get me to turn on my PC and go to a certain website. I told them I’d record the call and send it over to Microsoft, as it was clearly some dodgy scam. Both times, the blokes just ended the call after that.

For three mornings straight, my phone has buzzed at 8:30 sharp. Tried ringing back a couple of times but the number’s either invalid or it just drops me into some voicemail saying “director’s assistant, please stay on the line” - and nothing ever happens after that. Really annoying and pointlessly dull.

Everyday they ring me a few times, sometimes pick up, sometimes they don’t. They keep going on about some virus on my PC. I just end the call straight away. It’s really annoying, feels like harassment.

Got two calls this morning, one about 7:45 and the other just past 8:20, each from different folks claiming to be from Microsoft saying there was an issue with my Windows. I told them actually, my bedroom window locks are a bit dodgy and could do with fixing, plus there's a busted double-glazed window downstairs. Both just ended the call right after I said that.

Also, this morning I got two calls in English claiming to be from Microsoft Support. They said my computer was hacked and insisted on checking my BIOS settings with me. They threatened to disconnect my computer from the internet if I didn’t cooperate. They sounded quite convincing, but I didn’t fall for it and immediately reported them to the police. Unfortunately, they said there’s not much they can do since no crime has actually happened yet.

They ring you really late, expecting you to be worn out and not spot the scam! Watch out because if you follow their directions, they can take over your computer and hold it hostage until you cough up a ridiculous amount of cash. The best way to handle it is to mess with them a bit - act like you’re following what they ask, and when they check if something popped up on your screen, just say no. It really gets on their nerves and flips the situation, making them angry and rude. Who ends up with the last laugh then, huh? Honestly, don’t give them any details or do what they say!
