11 yearsGot a text from this number saying something about the IRS. I’ve never had any texts or calls from the IRS before, I only deal with them through letters in the post. Seems dodgy to me.11 yearsThis number texted me saying I had an arrest warrant and to get in touch with them urgently. When I rang back, a bloke picked up, looked up my details, then all of a sudden said he was some kind of investigator. He asked if he could ring me again in five minutes, but then he just hung up on me before I could say anything. Very dodgy!11 yearsSo, I got a call from this number recently. The person on the line sounded like they were from America, but when I tried calling back, a guy with an Indian accent answered. I told him I’m studying law and that I was aware it was some kind of scam. After that, he started shouting at me, so I just ended the call.United States11 yearsJust today, my partner got ringing from that very same number here in London on 20/11/15. She was totally freaked out and kept saying the bloke was a right tosser. Once she calmed down a bit, we realised it must've been some con artist. BE WARNED!!! That cheeky git is damn lucky I wasn’t the one answering.New York11 yearsSome bloke calling himself "Officer Anderson" rang me up threatening to send the cops round tomorrow morning to nick me for some dodgy tax return. He said I’d be in the slammer for 2 years, all my money frozen and any pay I get would be nicked if I didn’t cough up straight away. I’m no genius, but even I knew it sounded a bit off, so I googled the number and yep, total scam! I just told him to send the bobbies over then and promptly hung up. Proper laughable!Anderson11 yearsGot a call from this number, said I owed money to the IRS but couldn’t specify the year or even say my full name right. I handed the phone to a mate since our voices are different, and all she gave was my first name. The bloke then said he could only talk to me - and called me by my middle name! Proper rude and had an accent I couldn’t place. Total scam if you ask me.IRS11 yearsI got a letter from them saying I owe money but there was no details or anything. When the IRS contacts you, they include your info and social security number, not just some vague letter out of the blue.IRS11 yearsJust got a call from someone called Peter Anderson who said he was from the IRS. Did a reverse lookup and got some info that made me suspicious. I’ve been in accounting for years and as far as I know, the IRS always contacts you by post before any emails or calls. When I challenged him, he quickly switched his story, saying he worked for a collection agency dealing with the IRA. I seriously doubt the IRS outsources collections like that. He then mentioned something about an audit on my 2014 tax return where they supposedly found I overpaid. The bloke even told me to shut up when I asked questions. Can anyone confirm if this number is legit? Really need some advice here.Peter AndersonIRSPeterIRA11 yearsThis number rang my lad at uni recently. Some bloke claimed to be from the IRS and said my son had to pay £2,000 straight away or he'd be in serious trouble with the law. I told my son no legit IRS agent would ever phone out of the blue like that - they always send letters first. Lucky my boy’s sharp enough to not fall for that kind of rubbish and asked plenty of questions before doing anything.IRS11 yearsFor sure, this is just a total scam!11 yearsGot a call from someone saying they were Officer Paul Smith from the IRS, telling me there’s a criminal case, Ref 313666, and that the person they wanted was about to be arrested. I asked for an email to confirm, but he wouldn’t give one. I told him I knew it was a scam and then he just ended the call.Paul SmithIRS11 yearsThis guy, Peter Anderson, said I needed to send $3,682.27 through MoneyGram to settle what I supposedly owe the IRS. He claimed he’d cancel the $7,000 fine and cancel my arrest warrant, but only if I sent the money immediately while still on the line - no hanging up and calling back allowed. So, I ended the call, and then he rang me straight back.Peter AndersonIRSMoneyGramPeter11 yearsThis number rang me up and the bloke claimed he was Peter Anderson from the IRS. He kept going on about how I'd be arrested for dodging taxes way back in 2011. Total scam, don't trust him!Peter AndersonIRS11 yearsSome bloke called me claiming to be from the IRS criminal unit, saying we're being sued or something. He then asked for my name.
