Twice in the past year, I've got a message from a scammer saying, "Based just on your trip to the shop, how likely are you to recommend Three to a mate or family? Please reply with a number from 0 (Not likely at all) to 10 (Very likely)." Thing is, I never gave out my email to anyone! I've read that this kind of message can mess with your SIM card and even hack your phone. Do yourself a favour: BLOCK THE NUMBER AND REPORT IT STRAIGHT AWAY!

Just got one of these texts and it’s definitely from Three - one of those ‘how was our service?’ surveys that loads of companies send now to pick holes in their staff. They messaged me first, saying the survey would come from 72223. I tried to reply but switched to a different network recently and my reply didn’t go through, so maybe there’s a charge for that.

They keep saying they’re with 3 mobile. I reckon they’ve got some data on you to make their scam sound more legit.

Got three texts asking for my opinion but my account blocks messages from Three sales because their team was a bit pushy. The message had a name I don’t recognise and it wasn’t sent on any day we actually talked to Three. Feels like they charged me just to stop the messages, which I guess is exactly what they wanted.

Got a couple of texts saying they were from 3 about a survey. I phoned 3 directly and they said those messages weren't from them at all.

Got two texts from this number recently, think my phone got hacked when Vodafone switched me over to Three. I’m pretty sure my SIM’s been cloned. Wouldn’t trust the Three website either.

I rang THREE to sort out a problem with my service. The next day, I got a text from them saying I’d be contacted from 72223, and sure enough, I was. After that, a customer service person called me. They already had the advisor’s name and my postcode, so it sounded legit. The phone might say it’s a premium call, but THREE customers don’t get charged for it.

72223 is the number 3 calls to get you to do one of them satisfaction surveys. I was willing to give it a go but then, when I tried to send the first message, a warning popped up saying it might cost me! Not sure if it's some sort of scam by 3 or if the texts are meant to be free, but I'm not taking the risk, so they can keep their survey to themselves.

After going to the 3 shop in Tooting, I was told I’d get a text asking for feedback about how the staff treated me and to rate my visit. The number they said the text would come from was 72223.

I don’t know if this is connected to Three or anything, but I got a text from Three recently warning about fake survey messages going around. They even sent a link on how to tell if a message is a scam or legit, so it looks like lots of people have been flagging this number to them. I’m a bit concerned I might get hit with a £5 premium text charge if I respond, so I’m not totally certain if it’s a scam. That’s why I’m just marking it as unknown for now.

Just got a message from three, right before I got a text from 72223. It said they want feedback about the service I got from Maaz in their Customer Relations Team. The survey is meant to take just a couple of minutes and they said I'd get it soon from 72223. Seems like this number is legit to me.

This number for texts is definately from Three [###][###] - they use it for survey purposes. I didnt get charged or anything. You can actually put spending limits on Three so premium texts and calls wont go through. I always keep my spending set to £0 over my monthly bundle and ive never had any issues at all.

Bit odd really. I got a message that looked like a survey from 3 - I’ve had a few surveys from them before since 3 is my phone company. But normally they come from names like 'Three', '3Alerts', 'IVR' or 'My 3'. This time, it was from a number '72223'. Tried to reply with a score between 0 and 10 but my phone warned me it might cost me so I decided not to send it.

at three we use the short code 72223 to send surveys to our customers asking for feedback. ppl also text this number if they wanna add or remove a spending limit on their account. i’m a three employee.

this number (72223) messaged me a couple of days after i rang three customer service. i haven't called them in years, so i'm curious if the message is triggered by someone from three's team or what, cos how else would they know i just called them? the text asked "based on your recent call, how likely are you to recommend three to a friend or family member? please reply with a number from 0 (not at all likely) to 10 (extremely likely)". i'd say don't reply to it and maybe report it to three. if enough people do, hopefully they'll look into it and sort it out.

My partner got a survey message from 3 as well, saying more texts would follow soon. Sure enough, she then got messages from 72223 saying it might cost her. She contacted 3 and at first they were clueless about that number, but after a bit of digging, they said it was legit from the survey company and wouldn’t cost a thing.

My missus has been getting messages from this number pretending to be from '3' after she contacted their support. The texts ask if the issue with '3' was fixed and want a quick reply. We've reported it to '3', and they said these messages aren't linked to them at all. Just a heads up, don’t reply to these messages and block the number straight away. The only other choice is to text back ‘stop all!’, but apparently they might charge you for that.
