A few months back, I started chatting with someone on Facebook who claimed to work on an oil rig over here in the UK. He first suggested we move our conversation to Viber, then later asked me to switch to IMO. Not long after talking, he said I was the love of his life, especially after losing his wife in a car crash five years prior. Now, he’s asking me for cash, saying he needs it to buy kit for a project on the oil rig so he can visit me. He knows I’m a widow and despite me telling him over and over I can’t send money, he keeps saying he’s all alone and begs for help. He’s called me about six times during the early morning hours, probably because of the time difference between NY and here. His voice sounds like a young Hispanic bloke, which I mentioned to him, and it doesn’t match the photos he’s sent, nor the pictures of oil rig workers near Scotland.

Got a call from this number, some bloke claiming he’s working on a Shell oil rig. Said he forgot to arrange payment for some gear delivery and was asking me for cash.
