The number showed up as Zeta, which I think is some kind of computer repair firm. They didn’t leave any voicemail. Seems like an outdated number to me, or maybe they’re running a side gig as telemarketers. I’ve got my phone set to block telemarketers, so it’s weird they managed to get through.

Got a call on my mobile from some automated voice about a credit report. Total spam, definitely not legit.

I thought this was sorted but I just got another call from them on 22/04/2014. So what’s going on?

On 19th April 2014, this number rang me up. A robotic voice claimed my mastercard was blocked and to unlock it I had to follow some steps, starting with entering my full 16 digit card number. I entered random digits just to check what happened, but it simply told me the number was wrong and blocked me from continuing. There wasn’t any option to chat with a real person either.

On the 16th of April, a phone line linked to Zeta was taken over via the telecom provider’s system and used to send out a bunch of marketing calls. This has nothing to do with Zeta Associates or what they normally do. The number involved, 703.267.2342, has now been cut off by the phone company, and we've filed a report with their fraud team about the situation.

This morning I had a couple of calls from this number. When I phoned back about 20 minutes later, it just said the line was no longer active. Looks like they’ve sorted out whatever was wrong after someone else must have been using the number illegally.

Back in April 2014, I got a ring on my mobile from this number. The person on the other end said they could lower my credit card interest to 6.99%. They asked for loads of personal details, though they already seemed to know some stuff about me. But, the company linked to this phone number doesn’t appear to deal with credit cards at all. Feels kinda dodgy, like a scam to me. Be careful!
