I received a call soliciting donations for veterans with disabilities. When I mentioned I needed a moment to consult my husband, who himself is a disabled veteran, the caller abruptly cut the conversation short and ended the call. Quite dodgy, if you ask me!

In the past three days (25th, 26th, and 27th of October 2015), I’ve been bombarded with calls from numbers I don’t recognise. The first culprit was 206-707-8906 from Washington, USA, which rang three times before abruptly disconnecting, no message left, of course. Following that, I received a call from 949-689-855__ (the last digit seems to have vanished on my caller ID) hailing from Irvine, California, again, three rings followed by silence. The last was from 702-749-0532 in Nevada, USA - guess what? Yep, three rings, then gone. It’s rather puzzling as I’ve never encountered such irritating calls in the past. Quite fed up and a bit on edge about it all. I've decided I shan't answer any unknown numbers from now on. Anyway, I’m sharing this to see if anyone else has been dealing with a similar nuisance.

When I inquired about the organisation behind this appeal, the caller just stuck to their scripted responses. Eventually, I expressed my scepticism and concluded that it seemed rather dubious, leaning towards a possible scam.
