10 yearsI received a call from this number earlier today. Right off the bat, I recognised it as a scam, so I decided to engage the caller, who had a distinct Indian accent, in conversation for as long as I could to understand his tactics. His ruse involved persuading me to input "eventvwr" to supposedly reveal the numerous "critical errors" plaguing my computer. He claimed to represent the Microsoft Technical Support team and then directed me to visit www.anydesk.com. At that moment, I informed him that I worked for GCHQ and that I'd been keeping him on the line for a while so that an international anti-fraud task force could trace his location and apprehend him. That's when he abruptly ended the call.Microsoft Technical SupportcomGCHQ10 yearsI recently experienced a rather convincing phone call from someone purporting to be a Windows representative. The chap had a noticeable Asian accent and urged me to power up my computer, stating that there was an issue flagged by Windows. Ironically, my computer was already on, and everything, including my emails and web browsing, was functioning without a hitch. After we bantered back and forth, I firmly informed him that I don’t engage with unsolicited callers, and I decided to turn off my computer, bidding him farewell before ending the call abruptly. On a whim, I dialled 1471 to trace the number, which turned out to be 0017115384126. Is there anything further I can pursue regarding this matter? I've since notified Microsoft about these scamming attempts.JamesMicrosoft10 yearsI received a call from the number 01117015384126, which appeared on my caller ID. As soon as I questioned him, he flatly denied everything. However, it was pretty obvious what was going on, especially since the number he called from is infamous for those Microsoft scams.Microsoft10 yearsI own a BT telephone, and whenever I receive calls from unknown or unrecognised numbers, I promptly block those contacts. It's a fantastic device that even supports caller ID! I tend to get bombarded with these scam calls quite frequently. If they claim there’s an issue with my computer, I simply inform them that I don’t possess one and then hang up. Just a load of noise in the background. Seems like it’s probably some sort of call centre!10 yearsI received a rather peculiar phone call from someone claiming to be an engineer representing MS London, although I’ve no clue where ‘Readingshire’ is located. To pass the time, I engaged him in a bit of jolly banter for a good 35 minutes, all the while he was insisting on doing a tune-up on my computer - which, of course, never actually happened. Eventually, it dawned on him that I was having a right laugh at his expense and he resorted to telling me to do something rather rude. He even had the cheek to suggest I’d be charged a ludicrous fee for the call (which, let's face it, is simply not how it works!). Trust me, unless you fancy a chuckle, steer clear of these fellows. However, if you’re in the mood for a bit of amusement, engage him in chatter; let him squander his own time!MS LondonReadingshire10 yearsReceived a phone call on Thursday morning from someone purporting to be with "Windows Support" - as if!
