Received a random call from someone overseas, totally out of the blue.

I received a rather peculiar phone call at 8:55 this morning. An individual with an Indian accent introduced himself as Sam and claimed he worked for IBM. He mentioned that my computer had been sending error notifications to them for a fortnight now. Just to clarify, all our machines are Dells, and IBM offloaded their computer division way back in 2005! He offered to guide me through a process to rectify these so-called errors. I said, “Alright, do hold on a second,” and headed over to inform the company owners. However, by the time one of them made their way to take the call, the chap had already disconnected. It’s obviously a scam of some sort - be very cautious! They can potentially siphon off all your computer's data and hold it hostage. We’ve had a similar ordeal in the past which stemmed from a dubious download. By the way, just a tip: the phone number he used, 642-598-6532-1, doesn’t appear to be genuine!

They claimed to be part of the IT support for Windows. I decided to end the call abruptly.
