Got a message from “gov.uk.co flood warning” which seemed dodgy. The link they sent didn’t open properly and then tried to redirect me to a different site. Definitely a scam, don’t click it!

Pretty sure this is a scam.

Totally a scam! They keep saying I’m in danger of flooding but I live on the first floor of a flat, nowhere near any flood zones, so no chance of flooding at all.

Beware of HAYSSTOP sending texts to 60006, total scam!

O2 charged me 13p for a message from 60006, but I can’t see it anywhere in my phone’s text messages.

Got a message sayin’ my area’s flooding, which it definitely isn’t. Sounds like a scam tryin’ to get me to send a premium text. Ignore it!

I got a message from this number warning me about a flood danger in my apartment upstairs. They’re asking me to reply to a premium number if I wanna opt out. How on earth do they have my phone number?

Just finished chatting with BT online about switching my internet to them. A few hours later, got a text saying "Hi, your BT order is saved, check out later at this link," and another option to opt out by texting BTOUT to 60006. Thankfully, my phone has a cap on messages, so I didn’t fall for it - seems dodgy to me. But seriously, how did they find out about my BT talks online? My PC's protected with Norton, so it shouldn't be anything on my side. Is BT's system leaking info or what?

Got a message claiming to be from Scotts but asking me to text SCSCOTTS to opt out. Vodafone doesn’t seem to filter these sorts of texts or let me block or report them properly. Plus, they let me send a reply to 60006, which I later found out is a dodgy number! Honestly, it's pretty shocking stuff.

I got a text from Floodline asking to reply 60006 if I want out of their messages. I don’t even live anywhere near a flood zone, so I looked into it and it’s probably a scam 🙄🙄🙄

Got a call from some debt collection firm saying I owe money to British Gas. Didn’t really sound legit, just a BPO company trying to chase up debts. Pretty sure it’s nothing to do with me.

I signed up my phone number for flood alerts, thinking it was a sensible precaution. However, I reside on the first floor of a flat, and flooding has never been an issue here. I've been informed I can simply text 60006 if I wish to opt out of these notifications.

I got a call from this number, saying it was a reminder to do the National Student Survey (NSS), and they offered the usual opt-out too. Thankfully, my phone alerted me that replying would cost money. I’m planning to report this to the NSS because I’m really worried that the scammer somehow got hold of my first name and mobile number from their database.

Junk message alert - Got a text from ‘Floodline’ saying “Hi from the Environment Agency. Your location is at risk of flooding. You may have got calls or texts before about flood warnings on this number. This service is free. More info and privacy details at www.gov.uk/flood-warning-auto-opt-in-info. Text REMOVE to 60006 to opt out.” The thing is, I don’t live anywhere near flood zones. If you respond to that number, you could end up getting charged because it’s a premium rate line, so be careful!

I got a message that didn’t say it was from the environment agency or anyone called “jd” but actually came from a car dealer I’d bought a car from ages ago. It seems like whoever owns this number is grabbing phone numbers from all over and trying to trick people into texting back, charging a fortune. The big issue is if the car dealer gave them my number on purpose (not good) or if their system got hacked (also terrible).

Got a message from this number pretending to be the environment agency, saying it was a free flood alert service and to reply ‘remove’ if I wanted out. I’m pretty sure it’s a scam - I never signed up for anything like that. Wouldn’t recommend replying to it at all.

I've received both a message and a call from this number recently. When I picked up, a man on the other end inquired if my name was Ruth. I confirmed, and then he promptly disconnected the call. This leaves me feeling quite uneasy, as I suspect it could be an initial move towards some sort of fraud or identity theft. I’ve decided I won’t be replying to them any further.

I’ve just had a message from an outfit named Floodline, claiming they’ll get in touch if there are any floods near me. Seems a bit dodgy, doesn’t it? I tried to flag the number to Ofcom, but for some reason, it doesn’t show up on their system. Very strange indeed!

I attempted to respond to a message I got from 'floodline' by telling those idiots to ‘bugger off’, but of course, the number I was meant to use (definitely not 60006) turned out to be nonexistent! What a shocker, eh? Haha! I’ve chucked all their nonsense straight in the bin without even bothering to text 60006, just to avoid any other silly antics they might pull!
