10 yearsAbsolute scam alert! This bloke had no clue my phone had already switched to voicemail while he was yapping away with his dodgy mates. I could clearly pick out plenty of one-sided chats from these sketchy lot trying to con whoever was unlucky enough to be on the other end. When I dialled the number back, all I got was some classical tunes, then a recorded message telling me to hang on as my call mattered. Do yourself a favour and don’t pick up if this number rings you, and if you do, make sure you never share any personal details or give them control of your computer. If the number’s local, you can grill them about their identity, the firm they’re with, ask about adding you to their no-call list, demand an email invoice for the "purchase" they claim you made, or get specifics on the virus protection they say needs fixing. You can even take them to Small Claims Court and claim £500 for each dodgy or dodged answer.
