13 yearsI got totally tricked, paid $300 on Friday 28/3/14. Then the very next day they called again demanding $500 more or they'd have me arrested. I rang my accountant and felt like such an idiot for falling for it. I'm definitely going to report this to the police and the tax office. Please watch out, folks!HMRC13 yearsHad a couple of calls that felt a bit off. My missus got really worried, so I decided to ring them back. It was some bloke from India calling himself Adam Jones. He was asking for my lawyer’s details, saying I was being sued by the IRS over unpaid taxes from 2007 to 2009. Total rubbish, as we get our taxes done properly and have never had any letters about this. I could hear another Indian guy in the background, sounded like a cramped office or something. When I asked for a proper address, the guy got annoyed and told me to check IRS.gov instead. He said I owed a few grand and asked if I wanted to clear it during the call. After that, I just ended the chat. Did a reverse search and found these scammers are coming from Visalia, California. I’m definitely reporting it to both the local cops there and the IRS.Adam JonesHMRCVisaliaCalifornia13 yearsOn March 18th, 2014 around 11:01am EST, I kept getting calls from a lady with an Indian accent saying she was from the U.S. Treasury. She kept ringing my wife trying to make her call back, saying stuff like "or else." We even managed to catch one of the calls on our answering machine.US Treasury13 yearsGot a call from a guy with an Indian accent saying he’s from the US Treasury, talking about some back taxes from 2008 I supposedly owe. He kept saying I’d get a bench warrant for arrest if I didn’t pay up. This happened on the 17th of March, 2014, around 12:45.US Treasury13 yearsI got a call from her as well! She claimed to be from the US government and said I was facing serious legal issues. Haha, yeah right. Wonder how many older folks she’s scared with this joke? Wishing her a “blessed day” sounds about right - maybe in prison!United States13 yearsLast evening, we got a couple of calls from a woman speaking with a very thick Indian accent. She claimed to be from the US Treasury, warning us that this was their last attempt to contact us. She said if we didn’t return the call within an hour, they’d issue a warrant, then oddly ended with “Have a blessed day!”. Curious, we rang back the number she left us, only to hear a voicemail for someone named David Richie at the US Treasury. After that, we decided to do a quick search online to check if this was a scam, and thanks to other people’s experiences, it was obvious it was a con. We even looked at the IRS site and saw warnings about these types of frauds, so we reported it to the FTC. Fingers crossed those scammers get caught and locked up soon.US TreasuryDavid RichieU. S. TreasuryIRSFTC13 yearsGot a call from someone saying they were from the U.S. Treasury. I wasn’t convinced, so I reached out to my lawyer and Congressman John Garamendi. Turns out, it’s a scam. I’ve also reported it to the FBI, and the authorities are on it now.U. S. TreasuryJohn GaramendiFBISubmit Your Own Report (055 9372 6775)
