It didn't take me long to realise that this was nothing but a scam, and I promptly decided to report the incident since they were clearly not affiliated with Microsoft. To anyone who finds themselves in a similar predicament regarding a virus supposedly linked to Microsoft, I strongly advise you to do your due diligence before making any calls.
