got a bunch of calls, like 10 times in just a couple days, from people claiming to be hmrc saying ive got some legal trouble goin on. total scare tactic con artists.

I just got a call from this number and it was one of those recorded messages saying that HMRC were taking legal action against me. They told me to press 1 to talk to the case officer. I ended the call straightaway but I reckon it could really scare some folks. Does anyone know who I should report this to?

Got this recorded message from an automated caller saying there’s a lawsuit on me and that my house is being watched. Definitely reporting it to the cops.

So this morning my workmate got a call from that number. Like others have said, the person claimed to be from HMRC and told her her home was being watched and she was facing legal action. They told her not to talk to anyone at work or go to her meeting and to keep on the phone. They even suggested she buy some kind of "official" card from shops and give them the details. If you ever get this, just ask them for your tax reference number and watch how fast they hang up!

I just got a text saying I’m being watched at home and there’s a court case opened against me. Really dodgy if you ask me.

I got a call the other day saying HMRC and my house are being watched and that I shouldn’t just brush it off. I’m based in England but work up in Scotland, and with all the DBS checks I just had for my job, this could have easily fooled me! Glad I found this site, cheers for the heads-up.

Got a voicemail claiming there’s some court case against me and that my place was being watched. They said not to ignore the message. I’ve blocked the number now - total scam.

I got a call from some robot voice pretending to be HMRC, saying I was being watched for tax fraud. It sounded pretty scary for anyone. I just ended the call straight away.
