Just got a message from 40 4040 claiming to be Vodafone UK saying my contract payment is overdue and that they’re struggling to verify my details. It said I need to visit some link to stop my service from being cut off. The weird thing is, it didn’t even mention my name - surely if it’s about MY account, they’d say something more personal? Tried ringing Vodafone to check but couldn’t get through. I’ve never had any problems with my account before, so this definitely feels like a phishing attempt. Didn’t click on the link, obviously.

Definately a scam call!

I've had the same experience, right down to the infuriating detail. I texted 'stop' as instructed, but lo and behold, the messages just keep coming back as if nothing happened. It's got to be some sort of scam, but it's genuinely annoying!

I received a picture message from this number, suggesting I could download something, but it won’t open for me. Who might these individuals be? Interestingly, I experienced the very same scenario just the other day with the number 400040!

We’re currently on T-Mobile, and this month alone, we've received 14 messages from 404040 and You Choose. To be honest, we don't bother opening them since those sneaky blighters rack up 50p each time! It's quite infuriating, to say the least!
