This number has been ringing me about once every month over the past year. I picked up once and got some spiel about donating to a police fund. I said I wasn’t interested, but the guy kept pushing, so I had to end the call. Nowadays I just ignore it and let it go to voicemail, and all he does is leave a message saying “hello, hello, hello” with nothing else. The voice is familiar and it’s definitely the same bloke every time.

We’re a family with police officers so we know the N.Y.C.P.D. would never call asking for money. Still, I feel sorry for the elderly who might fall for these scam calls and end up handing over cash. It’d be good if the news talked about these frauds way more so folks could avoid getting tricked.
