If you do not respond, your case will be escalated to the courts, and you could face arrest.' This isn’t a number I’ve encountered before, so naturally, I'm a bit suspicious...Investigation Department of Canada9 yearsI received a voicemail that sounded suspiciously like a female computer-generated voice. It went something to the effect of: “This is the final notification from the Canada Revenue Investigation Department. We’ve attempted to contact you numerous times. There’s a case opened in your name. My department number is 343 474 0129. Let me stress this again… If we don’t hear back from you, your case will be escalated to the courthouse for arrest proceedings.” What struck me was that there wasn't any odd number in my call history, nor had I had any previous communication from them.
