I managed to keep these numpties chatting for more than three quarters of an hour, even set up a payment plan with them. I recorded the whole thing and keep playing it back. Told them I could settle my tax debt with Amazon gift vouchers. Honestly, they should stick to what they know best - long-distance trucking, cricket, or maybe cultivating impressive beards. Complete muppets, honestly, HAHAHA!

This number rang me twice just now, both times it was some automated message with no details about who they were. A while back I got something similar from a guy named Jonathan Knight but from another number. His sounded a bit more like a threat. I phoned him back and the guy spoke with a strong foreign accent, definitely seemed like one of those scam call centre people. Why aren’t these fraudsters stopped yet? It’s ridiculous.

On 30th September 2016, I got three calls claiming there was some tax fraud going on. The number showed as being from Florida, but I’ve never had any dealings with Florida at all. I reckon this should be checked out by the RCMP. Watch out for these dodgy phone and email scams, they’re everywhere!

I got a call from that exact same number and honestly, I was terrified and even ended up crying. I’ve never done anything illegal, but they accused me of owing taxes I supposedly didn’t pay. I told them I have an accountant who handles my tax stuff, so there must be some kind of mix-up. They kept threatening me, saying if I didn’t pay within the hour, someone would show up at my house and I'd be arrested. I was in a complete panic and even went to Walmart like they said to buy a card and put $2000 CAD on it. To cut a long story short, my husband eventually contacted the RCMP and explained everything. They said not to worry because it’s a scam, and the government knows about these calls. I still can’t believe people are using the government’s name to try and steal from others. I really hope they catch these criminals soon.

I ended up ringing the number back twice myself (not the one they said to call for details). It sounded like a busy call centre with background noise, and a real person answered each time - both had accents. The first time, I told the lady she wasn’t from the CRA and to stop calling me, to take me off their list. She just hung up on me. The second time, a man with an accent picked up and I repeated myself. He asked what proof I had that they weren’t the Canada Revenue Agency. When I said “you’re not the CRA,” he bizarrely replied “I love you too” then disconnected. They called again after that! I got so fed up I just unplugged our landline.

On 22nd Sept 2016 at about 2:43pm, I got this robo call warning me about fraud. I called back the number they gave, but after a long 20 minute wait on hold, I just gave up and ended the call. Later that evening, around 7:45pm, another call came through but no number showed up on my screen. The person said they were from my bank, offering some insurance for my credit card. I didn’t share any details and when I asked where they got my phone number from, they had no clue. So I just hung up straight away.
