I’m currently renting out a property and decided to advertise on Craigslist. I received a rather dodgy check from someone claiming to be a prospective tenant. Strangely, they sent me an additional £1,000, and they expect me to deposit the check and immediately wire the surplus cash to someone else. The calls are coming from these numbers. I asked the potential tenant to send over photographs of their American visa, passport, and driver's licence to sort out the contract, but it seems their only intention is to get me to transfer that money. Quite the con, isn’t it?
