She said they detected issues with my PC and wanted me to sit at the computer so she could help fix it. Since I use a Mac, I was suspicious and asked her to clarify the company name. She repeated "Windows" like it was supposed to be a known company. I asked her to prove who she was, and she abruptly ended the call. Afterwards, I did some digging and found out this is a common scam tactic. They might get you to visit a dodgy website that installs malware to steal your data, request remote access to your device, or even demand payment to stop fake "viruses" they claim exist. Experts advise not sharing any personal details and just hang up straight away. If you get any info about these scammers, report it to the police. I’m sharing this here so others don’t fall for it. When he asked what appeared on my screen, I said it read 'Get lost, I'm not daft enough to fall for this rubbish, try again mate', followed by 'Pretty impressive, huh?'. Suddenly, he passed the phone to someone else who tried to speak over me, but I told them off, hoping they understood there are no virgins waiting for them, and if there were, they wouldn't matter once their bits got blown to the other side of town.
