Last Wednesday, I got a voicemail from a woman called Tracy on both my mobile and my mum's, saying it was really important to ring back. I ignored it and haven’t heard anything since (today’s Tuesday). After doing some digging, it seems like it’s a dodgy collections agency. The genuine CBV Collections number is actually 204-944-8639. I never got any official notification about owing money, which made me pretty wary of the whole thing.

This number keeps ringing me non stop. When I tried ringing them back it said they were a debt collectors but then just hangs up. Ive also had two letters arriving saying I owe more than £2,000. No clue how they found my details but it’s gotta be a scam. I aint got any debts at all.

I've been getting calls from CBV Collections in Manitoba, like up to six times a day, and this has been going on for years now. It's mad because I haven't set foot in Manitoba for over two decades. When I reached out to Consumer and Corporate Affairs, they told me what this company is doing breaks the law. I've also spoken to my solicitor, and we might take legal action for harassment, emotional distress, and breach of privacy. The strange part is, if we win, I'd probably have to hire a collection agency myself to actually get the payment from them. Honestly, these people are the lowest of the low. I can't help but wonder if the people who hire them know how shady their tactics really are.

For weeks now, I’ve been getting calls from this number pretty much all day, from about 7 in the morning right through till 9 at night. The caller ID sometimes shows Manitoba, which is odd. Today alone, they must’ve rung me 10 times. It’s so frustrating, especially first thing in the morning - I got woken up twice before half past 8 today. I picked up once and stayed quiet, but all I got was silence before they ended the call. Don’t know what their deal is, but it’s really annoying.

They begin ringing as early as 6.45am and keep at it roughly every couple of hours well into the night. We programmed the phone to block them so it only buzzes once and the caller ID just says blocked number. I imagine they are just hitting a busy tone on their end. We don’t even pick up unless it rings twice. Hopefully they’ll get bored soon. Meanwhile, we’ve called star 57 so our phone records every attempt - feels like plain harassment to me.

So it's CPV collections calling me nonstop. Apparently they're allowed to keep ringing you according to the law. They're based out in Manitoba or somewhere around there. Weird thing is, even when I block their number, the calls just dont stop!

They’re pretending to be from Mb. Justice and bothering you even if you pay on time. I reached out to the Crown Attorney in Winnipeg, who told me “This is someone impersonating a Justice Department official, you should report it to the R.C.M.P. and try to collect evidence of their illegal actions.” I’m in the process of doing exactly that. It’s against the law to pretend to be a Justice Department member, and it can lead to criminal charges. This rubbish is how CBV collections works. I’m not just gonna sit back and let these cheeky crooks keep pestering me.
