Got a voicemail from this number on 5th Dec. Definitely a scam, so best just to block it.

Earlier today I got a call at work from some bloke on a recording saying he was from the CRA. He told me or my lawyer to ring 2048168635 right away. Didn't say anyone’s name or give any details, so I reckoned it was dodgy straight away.

The CRA definitely wouldn't be ringing you up on a weekend, especially on a Saturday or Sunday. Plus, they always use your full legal name, not some vague message asking you to "get back to us." Usually, they send official letters rather than leaving dodgy messages like that.

Got a call from this number claiming to be the CRA crime services unit, saying it’s urgent and that either I or my lawyer have to ring them back immediately. Told me it’s some kind of serious business. I didn’t hang about and blocked the number straight away. What a nightmare.

They won’t randomly ring you!!!
If it was really them, they’d call on your landline since that’s the only contact they’ve got.
CRA always send letters first if they’re after you.
And if it’s serious, expect a stack of letters.
Ignore them, and they might freeze your bank account.
But ringing you up? That’s not their style!!!

Before thinking about calling back, I’d definitely ring up the CRA’s personal tax department first at 1-800-959-8281 to confirm anything. Better safe than sorry!

Yesterday, November 30th, I got a voicemail from this number claiming to be from Canada Revenue. It caught me off guard. I haven't called back though, thinking it might be a wrong number. Still, I can't help but wonder who this person really is, feels a bit worrying.
