I got a call from this number and I was pretty sure I didn’t have any relatives in DC. So I decided to mess around and said, "Oh, so you’re Obama, right? What’s up, Mr President?" Then I told them I always pay my taxes, so maybe they dialled the wrong number. But they kept ringing. The bloke on the other end spoke with a strong accent, sounded kinda Indian to me.

Lately, we've been getting calls from various Washington DC numbers. A man, who sounds like he might be from the Middle East, leaves threatening messages saying my case has been handed over to him and if I don’t call back, the Sheriff will come and arrest me. I can’t quite catch the name of the so-called company, but it’s something like the Attorney General's office. We had similar annoying calls before, but those came from a California number - though it sounds like the same bloke. In the end, we just blocked those numbers, but they keep ringing from different DC lines. If this was legit debt collection, I’d have gotten a letter through the post by now. Plus, I don’t think I owe anything. My advice? Don’t bother calling them back and just block the numbers - maybe they'll stop pestering people then.

Got a call from someone saying he was Eric Foster, a Federal Agent from the Internal Revenue Service. He claimed there was an urgent tax issue I needed to sort out. I wasn’t able to catch his real name properly though.

I just got a call from a man speaking with a really thick accent claiming he was from the United States Grant Office in Washington DC. He said because I was a good citizen, the government wanted to give me $7,000. He mentioned I could choose to get the money on Visa, Mastercard, or as cash. I asked for the cash option. Then he said he'd have to confirm my address and postcode, and would put me through to a senior account specialist who would arrange the payment. I asked if the government was seriously going to send me $7,000 in the post. I requested the address he had for me so I could check it for myself. I also mentioned how common fraud and identity theft are these days and that I needed to be sure who I was talking to. We went back and forth like this for a bit until he got annoyed, said I was wasting his time and hung up. When I tried to ring him back, the number had been disconnected.

The other day, I got a call from 2023214382. A guy with a strong Russian accent was asking specifically for my wife by name. Since I understand Russian, I know what was going on. He kept pushing to speak to her directly. Honestly, I’m half hoping he rings again just so I can see what he’ll say next. It’s totally a scam, or as they say in Russian, OBMAN.

Got a call from this number the other day, someone was asking for a John or something like that. I told them I was who they were after, but then they just went quiet, said some stuff I couldn’t really catch. I kind of enjoy these random calls, so I play along like I’m really chuffed to hear from them, even act a bit eager to see what it’s about. Tried to squeeze some info out, but no luck this time. Right after I confirmed my name, they just hung up. I haven’t filled out any forms or anything like that. My inbox has been full of similar emails but I just ignore them.

Got a call from someone claiming the US Government picked me out of the blue to receive a $7000 grant as a kind gesture. Pretty dodgy if you ask me... not buying it at all!

Got a call from some bloke who was really rude. After we got into a bit of an argument, he went off saying he'd come all the way to Texas to track me down. This happened around 5:45 in the evening.

So, I applied online for some grants, which was probably a bad move. Then this bloke with a strong Indian accent rang me up really early and couldn't even get my name right. Honestly, I wish there was a way to block these calls. They’re not funny at all - just a total scam.

Just got a call from this number but the bloke had a really deep voice and sounded kinda Indian, so I couldn't make out much. He gave me some money confirmation number and another phone number to call back, something like 202 697 9034. The name he mentioned sounded like Sam Benjamin or maybe Benjamis - hard to tell because his speech was unclear. He kept saying the government selected me for some payment, but didn’t say how much or why I’m getting money. I have no idea who this is. Then I looked up the number and saw these reviews. Strange stuff.

Got a call from 202-321-4382 from a bloke with a thick Indian accent, said he was from some federal agency handing out $7000 cash grants. Apparently, my name was selected, but I had to claim it today. He gave me a number for the claim, but when I asked if the money would come as a cheque, he just kept going on. I asked if it’d be posted, and he said ‘it’s cash’. Then he wanted to know my age and I told him to wait a bit. After about ten minutes on hold, he just hung up.

Got this call saying I was selected to get a grant for 7,000, but first I need to pay a 310 application fee. They told me to buy a card and put the money on it. Felt dodgy to me.

Got a call from 2023214382 claiming to be the Government Tax Department. They told me I'd missed paying taxes to the federal government. They tried to push me into settling quietly with a supposed $500 pay slip and threw in some threats to scare me. Definitely fishy!
