Someone just called me claiming they were gonna hand me £9,000. I told them to take my details off their list and then I ended the call.

Just received a call from this number too. They were talking about some $9,000 grant from the US government that you supposedly don’t need to pay back. I replied with, “That’s great, tell me more,” then joked that I can’t even get a grant from my own missus and wondered why the US government is being so generous to me. It’s clearly a scam, and I get calls like this nearly every day. Make sure to warn your friends and family not to give out any personal info.

Even though I’m registered on the no call registry, I keep getting calls from this same number about a $9,000 government grant. They claim to be from the US government dept, but never actually give any proof or details when I ask.

They just keep ringing me non-stop even after I said I wasn’t interested. Then she shouted something like "f*** you" and threatened to kill me before slamming the phone down. Proper harassment that is.

This number rang me, but there was nothing but silence and weird crackling noise on the line. Honestly, felt like some kind of scam or dodgy call. Really annoying, if you ask me.

I got a call from a lady with a strong Indian accent from this number, saying I was eligible for $9,000 in US government funds because I pay my taxes regularly and have no bankruptcy on record. She told me I could get the cash through bank transfer, credit card, or Western Union. When I asked if she could email me something to prove it, she got really annoyed and said she couldn’t send anything in writing and that I shouldn't worry about it. I told her I wasn’t interested and asked to be taken off her list, and then she just cut me off without another word.

Got two calls from different numbers, both times.

For two days straight this number wouldn’t stop ringing. When I finally picked up, the guy said he was from the government and offered me £9000 because I’ve got no criminal record, no bankruptcy for the past six months, and no tax debts. He gave me a transaction number and another number to ring back. Apparently, you call that number and give your ID to a bloke called Jordan Smith, and then they'll send the cash through MoneyGram. He asked how I wanted the money, whether by bank transfer, MoneyGram, Western Union, or on a credit card. I chose MoneyGram, but I wasn’t about to share any bank details. It’s obviously a dodgy scam just to pinch your personal info. If you get a call from this number, just ignore it. The guy spoke with a weird foreign accent too.

This bloke rang me claiming he was with the government, offering me some cash. Asked if I preferred Visa or MasterCard. Tried to get details but it was all over the place, hard to follow. He mentioned something about me getting money because I’m not a criminal, never went bankrupt, and paid my taxes? Then he gave me a reference number and a name, Katherine - didn’t catch her surname. Told me to ask for her and mention I’d spoken to Sam, again didn’t catch his last name. Thought about calling back to get the full picture and write it down but figured it’s a scam so didn’t risk it. He used my old postcode and I didn’t bother correcting him. Guy sounded Indian, spoke really quickly with a thick accent!

Got a call off someone sayin’ they were from the government and had some money to give me. When I told them I wasn’t bothered, they got all annoyed. Felt like a bit of a scam to me.

Seems like a total con. The bloke had a really strong Indian accent and claimed he was calling from the US Government Claims department - which I’m sure doesn’t even exist. I told him I wasn’t interested and quickly ended the call. What a waste of time.

I keep getting calls from this number about some loan stuff, but then the guy on the other end started making threats, even saying he wanted to kill me. Such a nuts call and they won't stop ringing me over and over.

My boyfriend was getting calls from them every single day. They kept pressing him for his credit card details. Don't fall for it, it’s definitely a scam.

I got a call from someone saying they were from the US Government, saying they had some cash saved up for me. Of course, they wanted me to send some money first. Total scam, obviously.
