Got a call on my mobile and they left a voicemail saying something like "THIS IS THE IRS, YOU HAVE LEGAL ACTIONS BEING TAKEN AND YOUR STATE IDENTITY IS UNDER FEDERAL REVIEW. CONTACT 201-285-8120 IMMEDIATELY." They told me not to ignore it. Is this genuinely from the IRS? I tried ringing the number back but it was strange, just some odd ringing sounds with no reply.

Got a call from this number, and it was some automated message claiming to be from the IRS. It warned me not to ignore the call or I'd face legal trouble. So, I rang back, and after a long silence, a bloke picked up, saying "This is IRS" but didn’t say his name. When I asked if he was really the IRS, he told me to "speak in English". Confused, I asked why he thought I was speaking another language, and then he just dropped the call. Tried calling again, but no one picked up.
