Received a call on my mobile today. They left a rather concerning voicemail stating, "We are the IRS and there are serious legal allegations against you. Your identity is currently under federal scrutiny. Please ring 201-285-8120 immediately. It is crucial that you heed this message!" Now, is this genuinely from the IRS? I gave the number a bell but it just rang oddly without anyone picking up. Quite unsettling, to say the least!

It was an automated voice on the line claiming to be from the Revenue Service, urging me to return the call or face grave legal repercussions. Naturally, I decided to ring them back. After what felt like an eternity of waiting, a chap finally picked up and immediately proclaimed, "This is the Revenue Service." I refrained from using his name. When I inquired whether this was indeed the Revenue Service he curtly told me to "speak in English." My confusion prompted me to ask why he assumed I wasn’t speaking English, to which he promptly cut the line. I attempted to call back, but it seems the line had gone silent. What an odd turn of events!
