Got a call from a Portland, Maine number. It was an automated message with someone saying they were Lisa Mumkins, badge number 8145, from Legal Affairs at the US Treasury Department. They claimed there’s a tax fraud case against me and warned me to ring either 201-282-5442 or 207-221-6626 to dodge any legal trouble or getting arrested. The call came through on Thursday, 21st December.

Got calls both yesterday and today. They told me to ring this other number - 207-221-6646. The message was something about calling that number or else I’d be held in contempt of court and could end up in jail.

I got a voicemail from this number and it sounded like one of those automated messages. It was warning me about some tax fraud investigation... but as far as I know, the tax authorities don’t just ring people up, they usually send official letters. Very suspicious!
