I got a call from this number while I was in a country where they speak a different language, and I'm absolutely sure it's a scam.

Some bloke rang saying he was with Amazon and knew my name and where I lived. He told me someone tried to buy a gift card using my details from somewhere in London. I told him I hadn’t ordered anything, then he started going on about some issue with my IP address. I cut him off straight away. Later, I logged into Amazon and there was no sign of any order. Definitely a scam call.

I got a call from someone who was clearly after personal info from a vulnerable person, tried to get bank details and stuff. When I asked for a proper contact number, they gave me 80030009009. I checked it online and it’s linked to scams. The call ID showed as 4073234048 but that number’s actually disconnected, not a real home number at all.

Watch out for scams! I got a call from a number I didn't know. Normally I just ignore stuff like that, but somehow I picked up this time. There was an automated message saying it was the fraud team, warning me about an iPhone order placed on my account to be delivered somewhere else. It told me to press 1 if I hadn’t made the order. Silly me, I pressed 1 and then a person came on the line asking about all the gadgets linked to my Amazon account. I told them I had a meeting and needed to ring back later. They wanted to know when would be a good time to call, but I asked for a contact number instead. The number they gave me was suspiciously long, so I asked them to confirm it. The number they repeated was 1800-3000-9009. When I looked it up, I found out it was dodgy. It’s scary how many scammers are out there trying to blag their way in!

Hey everyone, just got a call from a bloke named Daniel who used the same number as above and gave me his own number - 551.235.9867. He claimed someone made a purchase on an iPhone or something like that. He mentioned an address in El Paso where the supposed charge came from. I looked it up online and couldn’t find any link to it. I told him that. Also, he somehow had my home address, last four digits of my social, and credit card info on record - though not the actual numbers. When I said I needed to confirm with my security firm, he suddenly hung up. Be cautious out there, I knew straight away it was a scam but wanted to see what he’d say. I’ve now reported it to Amazon as well.

On Friday afternoon, 23rd July, I got a call from someone claiming to be Amazon. They told me I owed $699 on my Amazon card. When I asked for their name, they just wouldn’t say it!

Today, I got a call on Viber from +61 8 8309 7928 saying that an order for $79.95 was made using my account. They even mentioned the number of devices linked to me, which freaked me out a bit. I've already reset my password, but this is the second time something like this has happened, and it’s really worrying me.

I ended up pressing 1 and got through to a bloke called Steve Jacob. He gave me a different number, 212-202-1050, saying it was some Amazon contact. In the end, I just hung up and rang my bank straight away.

Got a call from someone saying they were about to deliver a computer I supposedly bought. They said if I wasn’t expecting it, to just hit 1...

Totally sketchy and misleading, honestly.

Got a call earlier from someone saying they could help me cancel a Prime subscription I accidentally signed up for. Sounded pretty legit at first, but I was suspicious and told him I’d call back later. He then sent me a link to an Amazon-looking website: https://amazonhelpme.webnode.com/services/, which seemed alright. When I said I wasn’t comfortable and would ring him back, he got a bit annoyed and insisted I stay on the phone. I ended the call, typed in the number he gave me, and ended up on the same dodgy page. Just thought I’d share this in case it saves anyone else from getting caught out.

Got a call earlier claiming to be from Amazon’s cancellation team, saying my IP was hacked and that a £49 voucher had been ordered to be sent to Market Street, London. Strange amount, right? They already knew my postal address but I didn’t share anything else. They kept going on about some Customer Licence number 888DCA60 and wanted me to confirm it from my device. I told them I didn’t get what they meant and said it sounded like a scam. Even so, they kept pushing and I asked for a number to ring back. They gave me 180030009009, which I looked up and found out it’s linked to scams. So I just hung up. Funny, I’d had trouble logging into Amazon just the day before, so the timing of the call was pretty suspicious.

Just got a call from 001906291830 claiming to be from Amazon Prime. They told me I had to let them access my laptop to cancel a subscription I never even signed up for, otherwise they'd charge me £39.99. I asked to speak to their 'manager' who said his name was Ron Morgan. When I told him I thought it was a scam, he gave me two phone numbers: 1800 3000 9009 and 02031297425. Definitely a scam, so watch out!

Got a call from someone claiming to be Amazon about a £99 renewal on my account. The guy had an accent and when I asked his name, he said one thing but then suddenly changed it to David Thompson. I asked to speak to a supervisor and they quickly put a woman on the line with a European-sounding name. She asked who I was and I told her they called me so they should know. As soon as I said it was a scam, the call was cut off. Total dodgy situation.

Got a call from someone claiming to be Amazon, saying someone in Liverpool was trying to purchase stuff using my parents’ Amazon account. Problem is, they don’t even use Amazon. The bloke said his name was Nathan Mathews - spelt with one t. He rattled off loads of reference codes and even gave a customer service number in Bangalore. Then, when my mum handed the phone over to my dad, ‘Nathan’ suddenly just hung up. Quite dodgy if you ask me.

Got a call from +180030009009 claiming to be from Medicare’s rep office. They were pitching free stuff like glasses, dental, prescriptions and home meds, all no charge for 5 years. I asked a bunch of questions but their answers were really dodgy, didn’t sound right at all. What freaked me out was they actually knew my Medicare number. Felt pretty risky so I ended the call straight away.

Avoid answering if this number rings you. My elderly folks got a call saying they had a £77 Amazon voucher waiting for them. They asked my mum to put the team viewer app on her phone, and sadly, she did. I have no clue what they were hoping to get from it, but she’s taken the app off now.

I got a call from this number about some Amazon Prime thing, but it was total rubbish. These people are pros at being all charming and convincing, trying to trick you into paying for Prime by handing over your credit card info through fake websites and bogus call centres. Definitely avoid picking up if this number rings you!
