I got a rather intriguing text the other day that read, "We need to discuss a MATTER of importance regarding personal business. We've tried to reach you before. Please ring CCC Financial Solutions on 1300 039998. Reference number 128854." Naturally, I did a bit of digging and discovered that there's indeed a CCC Financial Solutions, which seems to specialise in debt collection. The peculiar thing is, I've not had any prior calls or emails from them-this text was the sole communication. As I don’t owe money to anyone, it all feels a bit off, doesn’t it? To top it off, their Facebook page has a mere two likes and only two followers, which hardly inspires confidence. I went ahead and reported it as a scam.

I did pick up the phone, and there was a woman on the other end who was reasonably polite, yet rather evasive about disclosing the name of her organisation. The call was intended for my son, and she insisted she could only share the company details with him directly, provided he consented. She pressed me for my son's email or phone number but was very cagey about revealing her own affiliation. Quite frankly, I wasn't comfortable with that, so I told her I wasn’t interested and ended the conversation.
