I was enjoying a lie-in this morning when my phone began to ring quite unexpectedly. Initially, I assumed it was just one of those annoying marketing calls I often receive, so I decided to ignore it altogether. The caller ID flashed “account services,” so I picked up the phone. An automated voice chimed in, saying to hit 1 if I was (my name). Naturally, I pressed 1. Then, it repeated the instruction - press 1 if I was (my name). So, I pressed 1 again. After that, it informed me I could press * at any moment to be connected to an agent. I decided to give it a go and pressed *. To my dismay, it simply replied that I should ring back later. How frustrating!

I let loose and told them to stop harassing me on my bloody phone. Then, it took a turn for the ridiculous; a bloke on the line began hurling insults and swearing at me. I quickly ended the call, but was greeted by a barrage of around 30 more calls in just half an hour! To make matters worse, their grasp of English was appalling. It's safe to say that I suspect it’s a scam operation.
